      Breakfast muffin

It's probably happens to you on occasion, you wake up early, get in the car to go somewhere and realise you haven't had any breakfast so just decide to pick something up at the petrol station. Now, I usually find there is not much of a healthy choice and you generally just have crisps and chocolate to choose from which is not always what I want so I was happy to find a McVitie's breakfast muffin in my local petrol station the other day. I have never seen these before and I am always somewhat dubious about muffins wrapped in plastic as they are usually not very nice. I like my muffins nice and fresh and warm and preferably just cooked but as this was really my only choice I decided to go for it. I know McVitie's to be a good name so thought it couldn't be that bad.

I was pleasantly surprised with my breakfast muffin. It is described as a cinnamon flavoured muffin with sultanas, apricots, cranberries, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and spices. I have to say the cinnamon flavour was not that strong and didn't really come through as the main flavour in the muffin, it was more just a bit of spice muffin rather than anything else. There were nice seeds and fruits in this muffin but it was not overflowing with ingredients and usually I like a bit more substance to my muffin. However, that being said the ingredients were nice, tasty and fruity and a good addition to the muffin. The muffin itself was nice and moist and not dry or stale like some packaged muffins can be which was great, I usually end up getting a stale packaged muffin.

There were 352 calories in this muffin which I think is not too bad, firstly for a muffin and secondly for a packaged treat. Look out for one in your local petrol station today!
