McVities Go Ahead Crispy Slices
Advantages: great when you need a snack
Disadvantages: tempting to eat the whole packet
After the Christmas binging on chocolate, wine and lots of other munchie things, I have put on over half a stone ! Yes ! half a stone, shocking isn't it ?
So, last Monday I decided to be positive and have joined slimming world, which I will write a review about in a few months to let you know how I have got on.
Anyway back to this review, as I am allowed reasonable slimming food bars as snacks or for my breakfast with this new diet I went along to Morrison to see what kind they had and what prices they were and on the middle aisles, where they display their offers I spotted these Go Ahead Orange and Sultana crispy slices.
These were on offer at half price of 97p, which in my book is good value for a slimming product, so I popped it into my basket of salad stuff and soups and off I went to the checkout.
Now, with all diets you always start off with good intentions and then get fed up and start to snack, which leads to the odd chocolate then your off again with eating badly. So, on the first day of my diet I was prepared with my crispy slices ready for the snack attack.
I had my cereal for breakfast, then salad for dinner and then couscous with vegetables for my tea. Not a bad start really, but when at around half past seven at the evening I was starting to get fidgety wanting something to snack on I remembered my crispy slices and though, Oh yes Go ahead !
So off to the kitchen cupboard I went to grab one.
The orange and sultana crispy slices come in an orange wrapper, with the picture of the slice on the front and fresh slices of oranges, which looks quite attractive when your peckish, so 10 out of 10 for packaging.
Each pack contains 5 packs of 3 slices, which is great as instead of just getting one bar to nibble you get 3 slices per little pack and can nibble them slowly as your watching television without feeling too guilty about your calorie intake.
When you open the little pack of three crispy slices, you can smell the slight hint of orange, each crispy slice is an oblong shape and very thin, a little like a garibaldi biscuit.
The sultanas can be seen in the slices and are a generous amount each slice.
When biting into the slice, you can taste the oranges which compliments the sultana and crispy biscuit slice.
These are great for snacking on and taste quite nice. I would recommend then and will be buying them again, as they are good for the diet I am on.
They are quite crunchy too.
Each slice has 58 calories so if you eat a packet of three for a snack you are getting 174 calories which although it may sound a lot in your daily calories intake of 1000 if your on a diet, then compared to a chocolate bar which is on average 350 plus calories, then these little lovelies are good.
You can snack without feeling bad about it, as long as you don't over do it and eat the whole packet at once.
McVities are the brand that make these crispy slices and there is a web site you can look at if your trying to eat healthy, check out www.123healthybalance.com for some good tips about healthy eating.
They have a care line if you have any questions too, which is always handy to know that you can ring 0500 011710 if you have any queries or problems with the products.
So far I have had no complains about any of the products made by McVities.
The only thing about this product I would caution about is that they could contain traces of nuts, as it says they are mad eon a line handling nuts and sesame seeds, so if you have a nut allergy you may miss these out.
They are good for the kids too, as instead of packing an unhealthy bag of crisps into your Childs lunch box you could pop one if these pack of three little bars instead, I'm sure they'd love the change.
I hope you've enjoyed the review, now I'm going g to go and enjoy one of these slices with my peppermint tea.
Have fun today x
