Advantages: Amazing flavour!

Disadvantages: Quite unhealthy and a little expensive.

I have always been a big fan of the milk chocolate variety of McVitie's Hobnobs, but have only recently got around to trying the plain chocolate ones! I can safely say that there aren't many biscuits I don't like (I will generally eat any!) but these have to be among my favourites.

Apparently these delicious biscuits have been around since 1984 - I thought they were much more recent but what do I know! If you aren't familiar with these biscuits, they are crunchy oat biscuits, fairly thick for this type of biscuit, with a lovely moreish taste and flavour. They have a lovely texture, which I think is a little different than most of the other types on the market, and if you are a fan of oats I'm fairly certain you will enjoy these! They are slightly crunchy, but not overly so, and can be a little crumbly. The great thing about them is that apart from the amazing oat flavour, they are also topped in a generous helping of dark chocolate! The chocolate certainly doesn't taste at all cheap, very rich, and compliments the base of the biscuit perfectly.

I can imagine that these yummy biscuits might make for an interesting base for a cheesecake, which is something I think I will try out in the future!

Now, these biscuits are definitely a little more expensive than I would normally pay, however I usually try and pick a couple of packets up when they are on offer because they are truly delightful. They normally cost £1.75 for a 300g packet (from Tesco) so I would say the price point is fairly high. I managed to find these on offer the other week for around 89p or something in that area, although I bet I could find these cheaper from stores such as Wilkinson's or B&M.

They are available in a couple of formats, one of them is in the hard tubular tub, as shown in the above picture. This is great because it comes with a plastic resealable lid, to ensure that the biscuits stay fresh for as long as possible. The ones I bought came in a normal plastic wrapper, so I would need to pop them in a biscuit barrel or something similar. I believe they are also available as mini flapjacks, so I would certainly try them too!

These biscuits are suitable for vegetarians, and I'll list a little bit about the nutritional aspect of these biscuits below.

Calories per biscuit - 95
Fat per biscuit - 4.6g
Salt - 0.2g

As you can see, they aren't the healthiest biscuits around, but I think they are great for the occasional treat.

Summary: Beautiful oaty biscuits.
