“ Brand: Morrisons / Type: Snacks „
One thing I really like to eat is spicy foods. When I saw these Onion Bhajis that are usually priced at 59p for 6 of them on offer for the same price but for 12 I couldn't stop myself from picking up two lots of them for me and my family as a little snacky treat!
The bhajis come in a plastic see through tray with film over them and the cardboard sleeve is in a pink and purple colour with a picture of the bhajis on the front and I'm told they are Morrisons '12 for the price of 6' (temporarily) Mini Onion Bhajis 'A lightly spiced Indian snack made with fresh onions and coriander' the price is displayed, there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there, I'm told they are mild in flavour, the size is stated (which in this case is 220g as there are 12 of them) and the use by date is shown. Other information on the back of the sleeve includes ingredients and allergy advice being given, I'm told how to warm them through (if desired), I'm told how to store them and contact details for Morrisons are given. Nice enough packaging and when they come off this current offer the packaging will be the same only they will say there is only 6 mini bhajis in the tray opposed to the 12 of course!
The Onion Bhajis:
Small and round, they're basically a mouthful in size. You can eat these cold or cook them from chilled in the oven in about 8-10 minutes. These are unsuitable for home freezing and no instructions are given to timings on a microwave on the sleeve but my Mother did warm hers through in there for literally a minute and I'm sure that's fine considering you can eat them cold so they're obviously pre-cooked anyway.
Taste wise, these are simply ok. I wasn't overwhelmed by them but I found them edible and ok. The outer 'skin' is a very dark brown and looks somewhat rough and fried. Bite through that and your met with a highly yellow coloured soft centre which as expected is made up from flour, spices and onions amongst other things.
The centres of the bhajis for me were a little bit too moist and the onion a bit on the squelchy side but the seasoning of ginger, chillies, cumin and turmeric were in nice quantities although they were a little but too overly salted for me they did have a kick of chilli to them.
They tasted ok but were a bit soggy and I didn't like the hard outer layer followed by the messy, soggy centre and I managed to get them all down my top and beware these do stain clothes and worktops etc if your not careful as they contain so much turmeric. I wouldn't avoid these but I wouldn't go out my way to purchase them again type of thing either.
Produced in a factory which uses sesame ingredients.
