Morrisons Tiger Bread
Advantages: Taste, quality, freshness
Disadvantages: Some may be wary to try it (like I was!)
We used to always do our shopping at Tescos every week. However, we are no longer loyal to Tesco and seem to do our shopping in a different supermarket every week! This week it was the turn of Morrisons. I love Morrisons, especially for their fresh produce - fruit, veg, meat and of course the bakery!
I rarely buy bread from the bakery because it tends to go off quickly and with there being only two of us, we are better off buying sliced loaves which tend to last that little bit longer. However, my partner always has other ideas, striding straight to the freshly baked bread section!
I had never tried Tiger Bread before, I hate burned stuff and to me it just looked burned! However, after much nagging from various family members I decided to give it a go.
The loaf is huge - probably a foot long and half a foot wide. It retails for £1 so is a bit cheaper than a lot of the sliced loaves out there. When we picked it up in store it looked like it would be a crusty loaf but instead it was quite soft.
I decided to use the bread to make sandwiches the following lunchtime, there were four of us eating so we needed quite a bit of bread. I cut 8 very generous slices and was amazed to see that there was still half the loaf left.
I was amazed to see how fresh the bread was, it looked and smelled lovely and although I initially wasnt sure if I would like it, I now couldnt wait to tuck in! Spreading butter over the bread was really easy, I thought this would be difficult and it would break the bread but it didnt and instead the bread held together really well.
So now onto the taste test! The bread tasted lovely! We had simple cheese sandwiches and I am pleased to say it was the nicest cheese sandwich I had had in a long time. The crust was really nice, it had a good flavour and was chewy whilst the inside was amazingly soft and bouncy. The bread wasn't at all stodgy and I found it really easy to chew and swallow.
Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches and I was surprised at how much I liked the bread! Morrisons gave us excellent quality and it tasted so lovely and fresh. It is worth noting that we bought the bread on Saturday and it was still fresh enough for my partner to make himself some sandwiches for work this morning.
I really recommend this bread, even if you think you wont like tiger bread as you may be pleasantly surprised!
Summary: Lovely tasting loaf!
