Advantages: Very tastey, Good Quality
Disadvantages: Expensive
I have been a big fan of Mr Kiplings since I was very young and agree that he makes 'extremely nice cakes'. I have tried many of the different types. One that caught my eye recently was the Viennese Whirls. One thing I have noticed recently is how the boxes have got so much smaller. The design of the box seems very much the same, it is just the size! Is it just me, or have the boxes (and cakes) shrunk??
Upon opening the box you find 6 very small cakes. The cakes consist of a circular shortcake filled with buttercream and rasberry jam. The shortcake is absolutely delicious and melts very easily in the mouth. The filling compliments the shortcake extremely well. One thing that did disappoint me was the size. Okay I am a big guy and like large portions, but when you can literally bite into one of these and it all disappears, you know it is small. The fact that for 6 of these it costs approx £1.50, mean that you are paying a fair whack for a cake.

These cakes do not contain any artificial colours or flavours or hydrogenerated fat. They are also suitable for vegetarians, so although each cake has a whopping 140 calories in each one, and are full of 8.4g of sugar per whirl, things could be worse.

So would I recommend them. I would without hesitation, however I think the price of 25p a cake is way too much, especially when they are so small. However you can't fault the quality. They really are delicious, but maybe one I'll buy next time if I see them on offer. They just don't offer value for money, in my view.
Summary: A nice treat, but not big enough!!
