“ Brand: Nestle / Type: Cereal Bar „
I have tried these Fitnesse bars before when they were being given away free with a magazine a few months ago. At that time it was the heavenly chocolate bar I tried. I kind of forgot about them because I could never find them in the supermarket but I saw some the other week and remembered I liked them so decided to try a different flavour this time. I decided to try the chocolate and raspberry sensation ones and a sensation they were.
They are produced by Nestle, the multinational food company founded in Switzerland. The fitnesse range is part of their cereals range. If you look at a list of their products it is astounding, from ice cream to drinks to packaged foods. The fitnesse bars also come in a range of different flavours including Tasty Multigrain, Sumptuous Strawberry, Chocolate & Orange Delight and Heavenly Chocolate.
According to the packaging, "A 23.5 gram serving of Nestlé Chocolate Fitnesse Bar provides 15% of the RDA of eight vitamins and iron, and 20% of the RDA of calcium." This I can imagine is why they have called it a fitnesse bar as they are trying to promote a healthy product to healthy people and are doing so with vitamins and other essential nutrients. I do like something tasty that is a bit different to just a chocolate bar and I like the fact that it would fill me up and be quite healthy at the same time.
The bars have cereal grains, which according to the packet are whole grain wheat and rice held together with a sticky type substance, probably sugar I think. Then it has little bits of chocolate quite evenly distributed in it which gave it an overall very chocolaty flavour. Then it also has little bits of chewy red raspberries in it which gave it a lovely fruity taste. The bottom of the bar is covered with a layer of chocolate, not too thick but enough to add more of a chocolatey flavour. The bar was nice and crunchy and chewy at the same time which gave it a really nice consistency and was pleasant to eat. Each bar like I've said above is 23.5g and the great thing is that they only contain 90 calories which I think is really good for a bar this size and also this tasty with chocolate and other bits too!
I would definitely buy these again as they were tasty and didn't contain too many calories.
The taste is just okay and does not have any special qualities about the taste that says it is better than other major chocolate cereal brands.
I can agree that the taste is nice but that doesn't make it stand out in any way, if only they had made a more defined and better tasting chocolate this would have tasted better.
The main reason why i brought this is because of the packaging, the package definantly makes this stand out a lot more than other chocolate cereals and also the packaging is a main positive for this chocolate cereal.
If this package was replaced by a less representative package, this cereal may be less appealing to any that wants to buy it.
The smell is too chocolaty for my liking, as soon as you open the packet you can smell the strong flavor of the chocolate and is too strong for my liking.
Another major downfall of the smell is that when the smell hits your nose, your nose starts to react with the smell and your nose may start to itch.
My family smelt the chocolate and their noses started to act up which led them to having a itchy noses whenever they were next to the chocolate.
The price is good because it is cheap and any low budget family can afford it, you can buy this for £1.70-£2.00 at stores like morisons,asdas,tescos.....etc
You can buy this at some corner shops for an increase in price which can cost you about £1.85-£2.10.
nevertheless this is till a good cheap price which i would still accept.
Overall this cereal is worth it because mainly of the fact that it is cheap and low budget family's can buy this name brand and also because of the packaging.
