“ Brand: Philadelphia / Type: Snacks „
For a long time now you have been able to buy all sorts of dippers and dunkers from Dairylea which are mainly aimed at kids but now Ritz and Philadelphia have teamed up to bring us a dipping snack for adults.
You will find these in the fridge in supermarkets, usually beside the afore mentioned Dairylea dunkers, they are packs of three and cost around the £2 mark.
They are very similar to other dunkers and dippers in that each pack has two compartments, one for the soft cheese and one for the biscuits and you simply dip the biscuits in the cheese for a quick cheese cracker snack when out or at work or whatever.
The idea is good and they taste very nice, the cheese is of course the typical Philadelphia spreading cheese and the crackers/biscuits are the usual plain offering from Ritz which are very nice.
My problem with this snack is simply the cost, over the three packs you get about 25 - 30 crackers and I would think about a quarter of a normal sized tub of Philadelphia and this costs £2, in Asda you can get a box of Ritz crackers for 55p and a normal sized tub of Philadelphia for only £1.39, so for less than two pound you get three times as much cheese at least and about twice or more the amount of crackers so as ever for these convenience snacks we are being asked to pay way over the odds.
If you really like this combination of crackers and cheese and you do not have time at work or places to keep stuff to make them up yourself then these are handy, there's no doubt but they are very expensive for what you get and I will only ever buy them again if they are on offer like the Dairylea ones often are.
This is a dead simple idea and I'm surprised they've not done it before. A dipper snack for adults using Philadelphia soft cheese with Ritz biscuits to dip into the cheese. The Ritz are a lot smaller than the ones that you buy in a box and that makes them look proper cute but the problem is that they're soooo small you'll end up dipping your fingers into the Philadelphia as well as the biscuit!
They're in the fridge in the supermarket by the Dairylea Dunkers and stuff and you buy them in cartons containing 3 Philadelphia Snacks for about £2.00.
You get a compartment for the cheese and another for the biscuits. It's plain Philadelphia, not the light version so even though I didn't check the calories on this snack I bet it's higher than you think because there's quite a lot of fat in the standard Philadelphia.
The cheese is majorly creamy, it's got the same taste as Philadelphia always has. I'm not sure if the flavour or texture is RIGHT for the Ritz though because even though I enjoyed eating these all the way through I couldn't quite suss out if the 2 flavours went good together or not.
The Ritz are a tiny bit softer than if you got them out of the box and I reckon that's because of having to keep them in the fridge, they don't feel stale or anything but they're deffo not as crisp or crunchy as fresh Ritz that haven't been in the fridge.
I think the salty flavour of the Ritz goes nice with the Philadelphia because of it being so creamy, I don't think it goes as good as with Dairylea though and that's weird because I know a fair few people who use Ritz to dip into their Philadelphia anyway. That's just me though, it's a personal thing about what you like to dip into your cheese! lol
I don't think I'll bother buying these snack packs again because for what they are it's a bit expensive. You can buy a full box of Ritz and tub of Philadelphia for not much more than these cost and then you've got the added bonus of being able to buy a flavoured soft cheese for a bit of interest instead of this quite boring plain one.
