      Very helpful

Quorn's best product to date in my opinion - fantastic!

Having tried and really enjoyed the Quorn Goujons the other week (see my review on these for more detail), I was quite excited when I found another new product from the Quorn range on the shelf in my local ASDA. These are Hot and Spicy Big Bites and look like large chunks of southern fried chicken, we just had to try them!

I must say its very encouraging at the moment how the supermarkets seem to be extending their range of veggie products and adding new lines all the time, I seem to see something new on every visit at the moment and its great to have so much choice when you have a vegetarian to cater for (although I have to say it also does me a favour on the weight watchers plan!).

These are priced at £2.48 and come in one of those very convenient disposble metal trays that you can put straight into the oven. The pack contains 8 of the big bites and I split the pack with my husband so we had 4 each. This is quite a generous portion but it not overwhelming, I would say it's about right for two adults. We ate them with some low fat oven chips for a healthy take on a junk food style meal.

I say a healthy take on it because each big bite contains just 76 calories and 0.6g of saturated fat which equates to 1 weight watchers point. This means by having half the packet I was only adding 4 points to my daily total and with a measured portion of the chips my meal came in at only 8 points which is fine.

So, I baked them in the oven for around 20 minutes at 200 degrees and when I pulled them out they were sizzling slightly and had gone a lovely golden brown colour.

Both my husband and I thought exactly the same thing on biting into our first big bite - it is very difficult to tell its not actually chicken! I reckon you could give these to a carnivore and they would not guess it wasn't meat. The seasoning is absolutely delicious and really does have a spicy kick to it, but its the texture of the microprotein which makes them so convincing.

I was mighty impressed with these, Quorn seem to be getting better and betted at making quality meat substitute products and the great thing is it makes you feel good twice over, once because it does not feel like you are missing out and then secondly because by comparison they are just so much healthier - what a bonus!

I will definitely be buying these again, to date these are my favourite quorn product!
