Advantages: Great taste low calories only trace fat

Disadvantages: None

Whenever I offer anyone a Ryvita they usually say one of two things, either Oh yes please, great I am on a diet, or no thanks I am not dieting at the moment. Ryvita is often associated with dieting, but it is actually a great healthy crisp bread that can form part of anybody's diet.

I have been eating Ryvita ever since I can remember and have always stuck to Ryvita Original but over the years they have created many more different types of Ryvita. There are now pumpkin & oats, cracked black pepper, dark rye, multigrain, sunflower seeds & oats, fruit crunch and more.

Ryvita is a wholegrain crispbread that uses natural ingredients, made with wholegrain rye and is high in fibre, they are incredibly crunchy and make a great alternative to bread or crackers.

I suppose serious dieters might eat them on their own, but I prefer to use toppings with mine. They are nice with spread cheese on top, or indeed cheddar cheese, other toppings can include spread meats, or pate, cottage cheese, feta cheese and chopped olives or mozzarella cheese with tomato and hummus.

Once opened Ryvita tend to go soft and lose their crunch if not stored properly in an airtight container. I have solved this problem by buying one of the Ryvita exclusive storage tins which can be found on their website www.ryvita.co.uk. These are cute little tins that look great in the kitchen; they come in various bright colours, red, purple, yellow or green and have Ryvita written on the centre of the tin. These can be ordered directly from their website for £3.99 including postage and packaging.

Ryvita original can be found in most supermarkets and food stores, they contain 32 calories, trace fats and trace saturates per crispbread and are currently 80p per 250g at Tesco. Tesco also do a great range of the other varieties I mentioned above some of which are slightly higher in price and the nutritional information will vary depending on the variety.

Summary: Nice for a snack.
