This has been around in its original form since the 1930s and I often had this at home as a child. Recently I have been trying to eat a healthier diet so bought some of these crispbreads to use for snacks. I know lots of people buy then for the purposes of losing weight but I have nevEr bothered to diet in that way but sometimes it is nice to have a snack that is also healthy.
These crispbreads are crispy and oblong and have two different sides - ones has large holes in it and the other is just sort of uneven. This is so you can choose which side to put your filing or butter. Personally I always use the smooth side as I do not want to eat too much butter for health reasons (my father on the other hand would always have used the side with the holes for his butter). There are many different and adventurous ways to use Rybvita crispbreads but personally I like to just have them in the plain old fashioned way. As a snack I will have four, with a thin layer of butter, and either with some sliced cheese or else with some marmite. They are a filing snack with some tea. they are even quite tasty just on their own with some butter and a cuppa.
These crispbreads have a nice savoury sort of taste and are a much better snack than sugared biscuits.
There are other varieties of crispbread now produced by Ryvita but these are quite a bit more expensive than the ordinary original version so I have not tried those yet.
If you want to try out new recipes and ways of eating Ryvita check out their website which has many different recipes.
Also on their website and mentioned on the packet is an offer to buy either an insulated lunch bag or a cute tin to keep your Ryvitas in. The lunch bag is £4.99 and the tins (in red or white) are £4.49 - both with free postage.
