      Not a great snack

Ryvita Thins are long thin flatbreads made from wheat and rye with various flavourings. These ones are sweet chilli and are available in most supermarkets. They are frequently on promotion for £1 somewhere, if not they may cost as much as £1.89. I feel that the promotional price is the fairer price of the two. The box is a 125g box with I would guess maybe 15 flatbreads in it.
Ryvita Thins do not look or taste anything like the Ryvita flatbreads you may have tried before. They are golden beige in colour. I would not in terms of taste or texture guessed that the sweet chilli ones contain any rye. The content of rye in the end product is only 8 per cent so perhaps no surprise there. The chilli flavour was not detected by me until I had eaten about 3 or 4. To feel any mouth tingle I needed to eat almost double that so they are very mild. Given the pic of two red chilli's on the front if the box you might well be disappointed. The makers obviously think that you are going to find them hot as they suggest serving them with a "cooling cream dip". I had most of mine with a sour cream and chive dip that I bought. The experience was OK but nothing special. I certainly felt no cooling dip was actually needed to get through the thins. I am in no way a lover of hit chilli so if I say it is mild it really is!

More than chilli was the sweet aftertaste. This comes from honey in the ingredients. I really did not like this aftertaste at all. I could really tell the sweetness was from honey and I don't like honey at all.

The thins are very crisp. That part of them is excellent but they are too long and prone to snapping because they are so thin when you try to dip them.

Another thing to say is that the pack carries the logo for the Princes Countryside Fund. This is a charity that supports rural communities especially those who are farming dependent. By buying a pack of this product you are contributing to this fund. Vegetarians should be aware that this fund provides money to support the businesses of meat industry farmers so although the product is labelled as vegetarian they may not feel that comfortable buying it. I do not recommend the product because the taste is not right to me.
