      A nice filler for lunchboxes

Along with the Oat and Raisin bars that I bought from Sainsburys, I also got a box of these Chocolate cereal bars to see how they tasted. I paid 92p for a box of 6, which compared to branded products is quite reasonable. They come in a box that is white and orange, just like the rest of the Sainsbury's basics range. On the front, it has the name of the product and a picture of the bar. The rear contains all the usual information that you would find on a food box. Each bar is individually wrapped, which is very handy for lunch boxes and keeping them fresh. Each bar is 8cm x 3cm x 1.5cm which is a bit smaller than the actual wrapper, but is still a good size for a cereal bar. On opening the bar, you are confronted with a chocolate brown bar and a strong chocolate aroma. If I based the product on looks alone, then I would not of eaten it as it doesn't look the most appetising. On the surface of the bar, there are some chocolate chips and what looks like caramalised sugar as well. On biting the bar, it has a firm but chewy texture which is easy to bite through. The bar is made up of oats, rice and wheat flakes mainly, which gives it a slightly crunchy texture when chewing it. I like this as it makes you chew the bar before swallowing and so lets you enjoy the flavours. I am not normally a fan of foods that are very chocolatey, however this bar surprised me a little as the chocolate taste is not overpowering at all. There is a nice hint of the bitter cocoa in the taste, but not too much that it is not nice. I normally have one of the these bars in my lunch box and I find that it is a great accompaniment to sandwiches and fruit. It is quite filling despite its small size and so will help keep you full for longer during the day. I don't think it could be used to completely replace a breakfast, however with something else it would give you a good start to the day. Sadly this bar isn't too good for you as each bar contains quite a lot of sugar. Per bar there is a staggering 4.4g of sugar! There is also 96 calories and 2.3g of fat per bar, which is not too bad considering it is a chocolate bar. I would recommend these to anyone who wants to try a new cereal bar as they are a good and cheap alternative. The high sugar level is not too much of an issue, as long as you don't eat too many at once. I will give these 4/5 as they are a nice addition to the basics range and they are a great addition to breakfast or lunch. Thanks for reading my review.
