“ Brand: Sainsbury's / Type: Cake „
The chocolate fudge cake is a frozen product and does need heating up before eating. It's very easy, you heat it up straight from frozen at 140oc/ gas mark 2 for 25 minutes; just remember to remove all outer packaging including the film lid over the cake. The cake is in a small silver dish which can be put in the oven.
Once removed from the oven serve immediately. It was very easy to cut and you could feel how soft and spongy it was when you placed the knife into it to cut it. It easily sliced in to 4 but we made it go slightly further and had small portions each and put the rest away for later.
We had it served with custard but to be honest this wasn't the best choice. I think squinty cream or double bream would taste best with it.
The cake consists of a 1 and a half inch thick chocolate sponge which is soft and fluffy topped with a lovely chocolate fudge sauce. The sauce has a slight sticky taste to it but really does taste lovely and smooth as it melts away in your mouth. The combination of the soft cake and topping really works and has a lovely rich chocolaty flavouring which tastes divine.
Overall this was a very satisfying dessert and priced at 90p you really can't go wrong it's filling and really hits the spot.
Next time you're walking down the freezer aisle why not warm yourself up with the lovely hot chocolate fudge cake.
Sainsburies Chocolate Fudge Cake.I actually made a suggestion for a Sainsburies fudge cake that wasn't this one. That particular one was really nice if a little dry and the chocolate sauce was a little bit too sticky. But as I made the suggestion I think I'm obliged to write a review! So at some point this weekend I'll pop to Sainsbury's and get this one. Might be a nice discovery!
