Advantages: tastes as good as more expensive brands, quick, convenient and easy to cook, BARGAIN!

Disadvantages: apart from nutrition info-package not recyclable and no multipack saving.

As you can imagine Garlic baguettes are not the healthiest option but when I purchased this I was in the 'sometimes a little bit of what you fancy does you good!' frame of mind! and surely it couldn't be that bad? well I was shocked!!......
For a whole baguette it will cost you 592 Kcal and 8g Saturated fat- thats a whopping 10.5 weight watcher points!! (To put that into perspective for people who are unfamiliar with the WW programme- I'm allowed 18 points PER DAY!!)
I was also quite stunned by the salt content too, per baguette contains 26.8 % of your RDA!

On a more positive note the fact you can freeze this product makes it very convenient and it is also very simple to make- oven cook from chilled at 200 oC/gas 6 for 12 minutes, or 15 minutes if cooking from frozen.

The packaging is not recyclable and looks typical of a basics product- a very simple picture, the orange banner and nutritional wheel- but for me this really doesnt matter- its whats inside that counts surely!

Now to the taste test!!.... Thankfully after the shocker of the nutritional info at least it tasted good! Infact i would say as good as any other, often more expensive, brand of garlic bread Ive tried. It went a lovely golden colour, had a nice crunch to it and was generous with the garlic butter- right up to the ends! There are ridges on the baguette making it easy to slice too.

I found cooking from chilled (or thawed out) tastes nicer than from frozen as they needed to be cooked longer because the butter was still icy in the middle (not good)- however by doing so meant that they were more burnt than golden by the end of it!!!

This product can be found in the fridge aisle with the fresh pizzas, they are a snip at 42p for one baguette or 84p for the pack of 2 (no multipack saving unfortunately!)

I would definitely recommend!!! .... Just in serious moderation!

Summary: Self control essential!
