Overall a good snack between or with meals.

This is another of the cereal bars that are part of the Sainsbury's basics range. I was quite surprised when I found these bars, as they were in a different section to the ones I have had already. These ones are "Toffee" cereal bars, and they cost about 80p for a box of 6.

They come in a white and orange cardboard box that measures 13cm x 13cm x 3.5cm and contains a total of 138g of cereal bars, each being 23g. The front has the product name and a picture of a toffee sweet along with the phrase "simple recipe, still tasty in lunchboxes". Each bar is wrapped in a white plastic wrapper which is good for keeping them fresh and for lunchboxes/bags. The bar itself is 8cm x 2.5cm x 1.5cm and is mainly composed of crisped rice.

When you touch the bar, it is quite sticky, which I assume is because of the toffee content. On looking at the bar, you can see the oats, crisped rice and the cornflakes that the bar is made of very clearly. The bar overall has an off white colour to it which is probably due to the toffee and the rice. When you bite it, it is quite firm and holds its shape very easily. It takes quite a bit of chewing before you can swallow it and it is a little bit crispy when chewed. This is good as it means it lasts longer and so you can savour the flavour more. The taste overall is quite sweet, due to the toffee, but apart from that it is quite bland. This is good in the sense that there shouldn't be many/any extra flavourings, but for a taste perspective it could disappoint some. There are a few bits of toffee in the bar (3%), however when eating, you don't actually notice them as they are quite small.

Overall the bar is a nice snack during lunch or between meals but it is not sufficiently filling to replace a full meal. I don't think it would be able to replace a cereal for me, but then I do much prefer a proper cereal. I think I will buy these again, as along with the raisin and oat cereal bar, it is nice to alternate between the two during the week to keep the taste buds fresh. For the price, they are good value for money and a lot cheaper than some of the brands. Sadly these are not the most healthy of the cereal bars available as they contain 1.9g of fat and 5.6g of sugar per bar! On the positve side, they do only have 91 calories and 0.1g of salt bar!

Overall, I will give these 4/5 as they are a good snack for any time of the day, but the slightly bland taste and the high sugar and fat content may put some people off them.
