A very nice biscuit that I have not seen before.

Choc Chip Digestives is a biscuit that I have not seen before, however the concept seems quite good and I am surprised I have not seen them before. I saw these the other day in Sainsburys for 71p a pack and I decided to give them at try as they looked and sounded nice.

      --- The Pack ---
The biscuits come in a dark brown cylindrical plastic wrapper that is 25cm long and 7cm in diameter. The pack has a picture of a cup of tea and the biscuit being dunked in the tea. This made it very appealing to me as I like to dunk biscuits in my tea and so it drew me to the product. Aside from this, it has the product name on the front is quite simple letters in white. The other side of the wrapper contains a lot of information about the product in quite small writing.

      --- The Biscuit ---
Each biscuit is 7cm in diameter and 0.5cm thick. When you look at them, it doesn't immediately strike me that it is a digestive as it looks a bit more like a rich tea biscuit. On all sides of the biscuit you can see the nice light golden brown colour of the biscuit which is interspersed by the dark brown colour of the dark chocolate chips. This gives it a nice attractive look to it and the combination gives the biscuit a very distinct scent which I find is very nice and quite sweet due to the chocolate.

The inside of the biscuit has a texture that much more closely resembles a digestive. When you bite into the biscuit, it has a firm but crunchy texture to it, which tastes like a good digestive should do. When you bite through the biscuit, you get little bits of chocolate sweetness every now and then which make them a joy to eat. As the pack recommends dunking and I like dunking biscuits in tea, this has to be tested out. When dunked in my cup of tea, I find that the biscuits dunk very well as they don't absorb too much liquid, which allows them to stay reasonably rigid and still have a bit of crunch. Unlike cheaper biscuits, they don't go too soggy and break off into the tea.

      --- Where to Buy? ---
As these are made by Sainsburys, you can only get them at Sainsburys stores. They cost 71p for a 500g pack.

      --- Healthiness ---
Per biscuit, they contain 68 calories, 3.2g of fat, 0.14g salt and 3.5g of sugar. On the whole not the healthiest, but as a snack with a cup of tea they are perfect.

      --- The Verdict ---
Overall, delicious! They are great to eat by themselves or to dunk in your drink and the addition of the choc chips to the digestive makes them a great sweet surprise. I will definitely be buying these again and I am very surprised I have not seen them before. For the price, they are very good value for money. The only down side to them is high fat and sugar per biscuit. Therefore I am going to give them 4/5.

      Thanks for reading.
