I'm not so keen on full sized Sausage Rolls. It isn't about the quantity of them, as I can just as well eat probably all the pack of the Mini ones, the mini ones are just more tasty in my view. I often buy them frozen and cook them myself, but I saw these while shopping in Sainsbury's and decided to give them a try. Priced at £1.49 for 20, I thought they were slightly more expensive than Asda and Tesco versions, but Sainsbury's is a little more expensive for most things.
These are in the chiller section and next to the other Pies and Pastry type items.
Each Mini Roll has 61 calories and 4.1g fat, but Sausage Rolls were never the healthiest snack around.
Packaging is ok. The Rolls are on a plastic tray and the pack is covered in a cellophane wrapper. You can clearly see the Rolls through the pack and they look golden and slightly flaky pastry.
You can eat these out the pack or heat in the oven for a short while. I have been known to chuck these in the Microwave, but they end up a bt more soggy with a more greasy taste to them. Handy though if you want something hot in a hurry.
These taste nice. THe Pork Meat is thick, slightly seasoned and isn't chewy or cheap tasting. The Paastry is quite thin, but there is a couple of layers to it, and the top part is crisp and flaky.
I would buy these again, as they are nicer than other Chilled Sausage Rolls i've had, just wished they were a little bit cheaper though.
