      Very helpful

really wonderful, moist and tasty cake that oozes quality!

The other night my mate popped to the shop to get a few much needed bits and bobs as I'm staying with her at the moment and eating her out of house and home! When she got back I was pleased to spot this she'd got us this for a treat with a cuppa later on that evening as I'm rather a fan of Victoria Sandwiches as a rule!

      The Packaging:

Purple and pink box with a 'window' to the front of it through which you can see part of the cake. On the front of the box I am told it is Sainsbury's 'Taste The Difference' All Butter Victoria Sandwich 'Filled with. really fruity raspberry jam & a thick layer of buttercream', that it is suitable for Vegetarians and serves 6 people and the best before date is clearly stamped on as well as an at glance nutritional chart. Other information on the box includes being told what it is, a full nutritional rundown is given, ingredients and allergy advice is listed as well as storage details and contact details for Sainsbury's. It's a nice enough quality box and informative enough of course.

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Box:

Victoria sandwich filled with buttercream & seedless raspberry jam. Finished with sweet dusting.

      The Sandwich Itself:

Round sponge cake that actually looks hand made. Slightly golden to the top of it with a smooth and powdery white sugar dusting the only thing that I found upsetting about this cake was the size of it. Says it'd serve 6? Small slices sure.... me and mate had half a cake each lol! Sliced to the middle, the sponge was thick and full of flavour. Nicely sweet but not overly so it wasn't light and airy as such and a bit damp but really lovely and sort of home made reminiscent! The thick white buttercream was evenly spread over lashings of seedless red raspberry jam that really was generous.

We loved the taste and quality of the cake and it nicely sits within the range of 'Taste the difference' products from Sainsbury's. It looks good, tastes great and is very worth it's usual £1.99 price tag.

      Allergy Advice:

      Milk, egg & wheat gluten.

Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers due to the methods used in the manufacture of this product.
