      Lovely stuff .

Every so often, I like to pick up a little treat for my daughter and I. Usually we get a pack of two little egg custard tarts, but on my last supermarket visit, they'd run out, so instead I opted for something truly sinful and wicked - a cream stuffed chocolate éclair. Coming in packs of 2 costing £1.10, you'll find these in the bakery section in a chiller. This might vary from store to store however. They come in a card box with a nice clear window that allows you to see the éclairs - long narrow fingers of golden brown choux pastry, generously stuffed with fresh cream, with a smooth chocolate layer on the top. I like to bite into these right from the fridge, and they are lovely, with the pastry being light, delicate, crumbly, and not strongly flavoured, contrasting well with the silky sweetness and crisp crunch of the chocolate layer and the thick, luxurious fresh cream filling. The whole combination of textures and flavours is marvellous, and these are a real treat . These are suitable for vegetarians. They do have a short shelf life being a fresh cream product, but they always seem to have these in stock . Per éclair there are 219 calories and 16g of fat - nothing too surprising for a fresh cream dessert really . Naturally, they are only available from Sainsbury's supermarkets. Lovely occasional treat, 5 stars .

      Lovely treat!

I do love cakes and the other evening my mate popped over to Sainsbury's to get some milk and decided to get a box of these as a treat for us both! The Packaging: You get two eclairs in a light brown coloured box that has a plastic window you can see-through to the front of it. On the front of the box I am told that they are Sainsbury's '2' Fresh Cream Chocolate Eclairs 'Choux pastry eclairs filled with fresh cream and topped with chocolate fondant' and that they are suitable for Vegetarians, there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there and the best before date is clearly displayed. Other information listed includes ingredients and allergy advice, there is a full nutritional chart shown, storage advice is given and contact details for Sainsbury's are given. The Eclairs: What you get is two eclairs of course. Each are long and filled with a thick white and set white cream which is generous in the middle, so each is halved and filled and then you have a generous amount of set milk chocolate to the the top of each too. The pastry is tasty and light and not too sweet and the cream tastes fresh and again not sweetened and then the chocolate is sweet and smooth and melts in the mouth and over the top of each. They are of decent size and light and airy. Not too sweet but very well balanced in flavours they are excellent quality and of good size, best served cool and as soon as bought really! Very nice and great value too! Nutritional Information Per Eclair: Calories: 219 Fat: 16.0g Saturated: 8.2g Salt: 0.15g Total Sugars: 10,5g Only available in Sainsbury's stores priced at £1.10.
