Advantages: Very nice

Disadvantages: Price

The biscuits and cookies I normally go for tend to be things like Hobnobs or garibladis or party rings and things like that but the other day my dad brought home some 'posh biscuits' - Sainsbury's Taste The Difference varieties. I have tried quite a few items from this range and have always been pleased so I thought these would be nice.

These are called All butter stem ginger and oatflake cookies. I am not a ginger nut nut so was unsure what I would make of these. They come in a brown and green cardboard box with a picture of the cookies on the front. They indicate these are vegetarian and we are told there are 79 calories per biscuit which is not as high as I thought considering these are butter cookies. Inside there is a black plastic tray divided in two and plastic cellophane surrounding it. In terms of packaging, though it looks good, it is a little intense and I can imagine it irritating those more environmentally aware.

The cookies are a good size, about half the size again of a Maryland cookie. They are a lovely golden colour, exactly the right colour, and as promised on the pack they err more on the side of crumbly than snappy which I like though it's a little more messy. They also smell very appetising. Taste-wise I was very impressed. They have got that spicy gingery zing to them but it's not over-powering in the way ginger nuts are though it leaves the taste of ginger in your mouth for quite a while after. The biscuit is soft, well-cooked and just the right side of crunchy whilst also having little pieces of oat in there too.

I am very impressed with these and they are so moreish. To buy they are £1.26 at a Local and £1.19 in the normal Sainsburys and there are 12 cookies per pack. Lovely!

Summary: Worth it
