Advantages: Wonderful crisps ... the perfect blend of texture and flavour.
Disadvantages: All those other crisps that steal the limelight !!!
I have recently rediscovered Seabrooks Crisps !!!
Whilst out on a luchtime mission to the shop I found myself n a quaint "corner shop" where the only crisps that were sold were Seabrooks !
I bought a pack ... Prawn Cocktail.
Now, I could tell you all about Seabrooks and how they have been making crisps in their Bradford factory since 1945 ... but I'm not going to !
I could maybe tell you that Seabrooks crips contain no GSM or MSG as they use only the finest ingredients such as sunflower oil and sea salt ... but that's all a little too technical for someone who has only recently started reviewing again ;)
What I can tell you is that they tasted WONDERFFUL !!!
I opened the packet back at the office and was almost instantly taken back to my childhood ... they just so different to the many of the existing brands of crisps I eat. They tasted fresher, crunchier and so much more flavoursome !!!
It was at that point that I had a flood of childhood memories. I remembered going on school trips and opening up my packed lunch to find a pack of Seabrooks squashed up against my sandwiches. I remember being behind the bar at the pub my grandma worked in and being allowed to sneak a pack of Seabrooks upstais for a midnight feast ...
And, here's the really weird thing, I have absolutely no idea why I have not had any Seabrooks crisps since the 1980s ... it's not as if they are hard to find is it. Infact since I had that pack of Prawn Cocktail Seabrooks last week I have seen them everywhere ... they even do maxi bags these days with all new spicy flavours !!!
All I can say is that I am so pleased that the small corner shop I visited during my lunchbreak last week had decided to only sell one kind of crisp ... SEABROOKS.
That pack of Prawn Cocktail crisps has reconnected me with my childhood ... and I have rediscovered why I loved them so much as a child. They are now my favourite kind of crisps once again ... I can't wait to try them all ... the cheese and onion ones, the worcester sauce ones, the just sea salted ones and of course the packled onion flavour. There are so many new flavours out there to tempt us these days and there are also many "cinkle cut" pretenders on the supermarket shelves ... but the original crinklecut crisp is still around today and it can be found in a Seabrooks bag !!!
Long live Seabrooks Crisps ...
I promise you that I will never abandon you again ;)
Summary: Open a pack and experience the magic for yourself !
