After Christmas I used Slim Fast products for three weeks to help me lose half a stone. I achieved my goal and have managed to maintain this weight loss so far. I have been very pleased with the quality of basically all of the Slim Fast products that I have tried so far and would definitely recommend them. I lost my weight have milkshakes for breakfast & lunch, snacks twice a day and a healthy dinner. I have since used a few of the Slim Fast products to help me stay in shape and keep off the weight loss that I achieved.
These cheddar bites are available from Boots stores or the Boots website for just 59p which I think is quite a reasonable price for a snack and these were definitely one of the snacks that I enjoyed several times a week for my three week weight loss Slim Fast stint.
These cheddar bites come provided in a thick foil/plastic style bag and there are perforated edges that make it very simple to open this bag. I have found that the bag is quite strong but it does rip in an awkward manner that sometimes means that some of the cheddar bites spill out on the side at work (where I was usually eating them).
These bites are a little triangle shape and they have small holes all over them that make me think of crackers. These bites are made from wheat flour and dried potato so they do have a slightly different taste to them as apposed to crisps. I like the bite of these, it is quite hard and each one is tasty and feels like a little treat. I love the cheddar flavouring to these bites, it is quite strong and as I love extra mature cheddar this is ideal for me. There is also a hint of other flavourings on these bites and while I couldn't quite put my finger on it I can see from the ingredients that it is likely the onion or garlic powder. There is a real kick to these cheddar bites and I absolutely love them.
These were definitely one of my favourite Slim Fast snacks and when I am in Boots on my lunch break I often pick some of these up. I think the price is reasonable and these cheddar bites are absolutely delicious and get a firm recommendation from me! These bites come in at just 95 calories which is aboslutely fantastic!
Today I keep starting reviews and somehow not managing to finish them maybe because I cant quite get into writing today so I thought Id take the easy option and write some food and drink reviews - I haven't done any in a while and I still have a lot to write about for this category. So I thought Id start with these "Slim Fast Cheddar Flavour Bites" which Ive been eating quite a lot of over the last few months since I started the Slimfast diet plan - I'm not sticking to it as religiously now but I'm still buying and trying loads of their brands products so I'm going to get these reviews done for you!
Now I like getting the Slimfast brand snacks because when I'm dieting - and I assume most people will be the same - I dont want to feel like I'm sacrificing all my usual foods so I'm always on the lookout for things that taste just as good as the crap I usually eat but isn't as fattening or calorific - Slimfast brand snacks are perfect for just that.
Price: 2 packets for 80p (As of right now)
Stockists: Most supermarkets, Superdrug
Nutritional Information: [ Per Bag]
These "bites" are very good for you when you compare them to your normal bag of crisps and I think most people will still enjoy them once they switch. These "bites" are designed to be eaten as one of your 3 snacks a day - all of those should contain 100 calories or less. But even if your not on the Slimfast plan I think these would be a nice treat in addition to your lunch - swap your packet of greasy crisps for these!
Obviously as these are a diet snack the packet isn't going to be massive Id say its about 1/2 of the size of a bag of crisps but it is filled to the top and bursting with "bites" so you are getting quite a few to fill you up. I think these bites are pretty much diet mini Cheddars but slightly smaller. That is what they look like and if I'm honest taste like as well. These for me are the ultimate savoury treat because they are super cheesy and have a really salty edge to them which I love.
I'm a mini cheddar-holic so I love that I can still eat something that tastes just like them but isn't as bad for me as these are really yummy and make a great addition to a sandwich at lunchtime as part of a meal or as a snack at any time of the day. They get the thumbs up from me and from my mom as we both agree they are a gorgeous, savoury snack that will help fill you up without helping your waist expand! I highly recommend them whether your dieting or not as I don't think you would be able to tell these were diet food if no-one told you! Everyone should try these especially if you like mini cheddars.

I have not been on the Slim Fast plan long, so I can not yet comment on whether it works or not, however I have been trying out the different shakes and snacks they have to offer.
To briefly outline how it works for those unfamiliar with Slim Fast, it replaces breakfast and lunch with Slim Fast shakes or meal bars which contain the vitamins and minerals you should be getting form those meals, you then have a sensible evening meal as normal. In addition to this you are allowed three snacks a day, these can either be fruit or veg or some of the Slim Fast branded snacks.
I started off for the first few days just having grapes when I fancied a snack, however soon I was beginning to crave crisps so I headed to Boots to see what Slim Fast snacks they had to offer. I chose the Cheddar Flavour Bites.
In a small red packet, they don't look like much but I guess a packet of Walkers crisps is 60% air so I wasn't going to judge by the pack.
Honestly, I was expecting some small dry biscuits that taste like sawdust as has been the sort of experience I've had with other diet snacks. I'm pleased to say though I was pleasantly surprised.
The little crunchy triangular biscuits were powerfully cheese flavoured that I really enjoyed, however may be a little strong for some. I think there was a sufficient amount for a snack, they weren't substantial but stopped my stomach rumbling until dinner.
Slim Fast snacks are designed to be under 100 calories and these come in at 95 calories and 2.5g of fat per bag, so a calorie saving compared to a normal bag of crisps or snacks.
At 59p per pack they are a little more expensive that buying regular crisps. Of course the fact that these are Slim Fast branded snacks, and you know they are ok to eat on the plan means people will buy them and Slim fast could really charge what they like but I think that it's good they have kept the price fairly modest.
Overall, I am impressed with these Cheddar Bites and would be happy eating them compared to a lot of other more calorific crisps, whether I was watching my weight or not, because they are very tasty!
I've tried a number of Slim-Fast products in the past, but until today I'd not tried these Cheddar Flavour Bites, which are offered as one of the plan's 'snack' options.
These snack bags are sold individually, each one containing one recommended snack portion of 23g. One pack provides: 99 calories, 0.5g saturated fat and 0.11g sodium. For such a small portion, I find the price of 59p per packet a bit steep, although Superdrug had them on offer today at 2 for 65p, which is a bit more reasonable. I suppose you're paying a premium for the convenience of knowing that one pack = one snack, and the fact that you don't have to decide how much is a sensible portion or be having to weigh out a portion and calculate the calories. For me, this can sometimes be a blessing, as I often suffer from a serious lack of self control!
The packing is clear and concise, showing nutrional information, as well as giving an example of how the snack should fit in to your daily food plan.
The Cheddar Bites are oven baked wheat and potato biscuits. They're small, very thin and pleasantly crisp and crunchy. The flavour is similar to that of cheese and onion crisps. In comparison to some other 'diet' snacks which I've tried in the past, I found these to be relatively tasty and flavourful, and not at all bland or dry. The only drawback with the flavour, is that the taste is fairly salty, which makes them rather moreish, which isn't too great when the pack size is so small and you're trying to limit your food intake!
I followed Slim Fast diet for a short while last year, having shakes for two meals each day and two to three snacks, which were quite often Slim Fast snacks.
The Cheddar Flavour Bites cost around 45p for a 23g bag. This price will vary slightly depending on where they are purchased. I bought mine at Tesco and at the time they were also on a 3 for £1.00 multibuy offer.
The bag contains approximately 25 triangle shaped potato snacks and will provide 99 calories, 2.7g of fat and 16.6g of carbs.
These cheesy bites are really very cheesy and I can also detect a strong onion taste and a hint of paprika. They are a little salty but only contain 0.11g of sodium which I think is a fairly small amount. They are very crunchy and also a dry snack they do not dry the mouth out like other salty potato snacks do.
I really have enjoyed eating these in the past and would definitely but more on the 3 for £1.00 offer should I re-start the Slim Fast plan - I could really do with shifting some pounds so it is definitely in consideration.
I do think that they are overpirced, even while they are on offer, but the small sized packet ensures that you only eat a small amount and I really need this kind of help, so I would say that they are of fair value
