The individual pretzels are quite small, and I would describe them as bitesize. Each pretzel is a pale golden colour, with small green flecks on some of them, to denote the chives. They also look as though they are covered in a pale coloured powder, I thought it was salt at first, but after seeing one of the ingredients was sour cream powder, I am assuming that's what the pretzels are coated with. The occasional pretzel looks slightly more golden, which seems to indicate that these are baked rather than fried.
These do taste quite similar to the sour cream and chive Pringles. I do find that these are slightly strong in flavour, but at the same time, there is something moreish about these. After the first few, the chive is the overwhelming flavour, and while I'm not normally a fan of onion tastes, these aren't so strong that the taste is overwhelming. There is, however, a slight garlic aftertaste, but since I don't mind garlic, this isn't a problem for me.
The pretzels are quite crunchy, but wouldn't be quite as crunchy as eating crisps. I would estimate there are around 40 pretzels in each bag, so while this is a slim fast product, the result is a satisfying snack, and I find that one bag is enough to satisfy any hunger pangs, particularly if I eat the bag slowly.
Price and Availability
I bought mine from Superdrug, and they cost me 59p. I have also seen these in Poundland where you can get two packets for £1 and also in Savers at a cost of around 39p so if you want to try these, it pays to shop around.
Since I started the Slimfast 3-2-1 plan on Wednesday my mom has been buying loads of the Slimfast range snacks for us to try in between or milkshakes and meal. This is one of those snacks - the only one that I have been wanting to try for absolutely ages - even before I started the diet. Im a big fan of savoury foods and I absolutely love cream cheese and chive flavouring and if I can have that on a diet all the better in my opinion so I decided to try a packet of these pretzels this afternoon with my lunchtime milkshake. This is the one Slimfast snack that I was hoping would taste really nice and I have to say I am not disappointed in the slightest. Ill definately be stocking up on these again and again in the future!
Now for some reason I cant find the exact nutritional values for these pretzels but as they are from the Slimfast range they are actually pretty good for you. I know that they have to be less than 100 calories as all the snacks from this range are so these pretzels are great for people who are dieting and what to cut out the junk food snacks. Perfect replacment for a packet of crisps I reckon.
Now although this packet is quite small the bag is filled to the top with pretzels so you are getting your moneys worth in this case. Inside you will see loads of tiny pretzels that look covered in flavouring and they smell proper yummy as soon as you open the packet. The smell seems to be more herby than anything else but it is very nice all the same - and it is pretty strong - luckily the flavour is as well.
I reviewed "Penn State Pretzels" the other day in the same flavour as these and I have to say I think the two of them taste exactly the same but these are better for you! They have a great crunchy texture to them and they are totally packed with flavour. The herb flavour is definately the strongest but you do get a slight aftertaste of the sour cream and I reckon that is the perfect amount. The flavours arent overpowering in the slightest and they go really well together. I was actually surprised at how nice these were and how full of flavour they were because the really dont taste like a diet snack at all. I recommend these to everyone whether you on the Slimfast plan or not because they are yummy.
My mom said these pretzels cost her around 70p for one packet but I think you can get them in multipacks so that might be worth keeping an eye out for. You can buy these from most supermarkets and places like Superdrug.

Week two of Slim Fast now with marginal results, but I'll keep going. Carrying on checking out the range of snacks, I decided to try the Sour Cream and Chive Pretzels.
With the Slim Fast plan you have a shake or meal bar for breakfast and lunch and a proper meal in the evening. In addition to this to stop you fading away you may also have up to three 100 cal or less snacks. These can either be fruit or veg or Slim Fast snacks which are all designed to come in at under the 100 calories mark.
The pretzels, as with all the Slim Fast snacks are a bit pricey for what they are at 58p for a small bag. However, I've noticed some 3 for a £1 offers in some of the supermarkets from time to time so shop around.
The pretzels come in at 95 calories but I'm pleased to say taste like more! Can't say I can detect much sour cream but they are really oniony tasting, quite powerful but I like that, some may not. The pretzels are a little smaller than normal pretzels but are very crunchy. This is probably very girly, but there is something very cute about a pretzel, I like the way they are so perfectly formed in little twisty heart shapes- It's almost a shame to eat them!
The one thing I'll say against these is they are very powdery and hence for one as clumsy as me, a little messy.
Overall though, another Slim Fast product I like... very tasty. This range are changing my view of diet snacks.. they need not be tasteless.. hurrah!
I'm not actually dieting but am trying to cut down on a bit of fat since I've been such a pig over Xmas. They had bags of these Slim Fast pretzels for 39p in the chemist by me because the date runs out on them at the end of the month.
I didn't look at the packet properly because I was in such a rush and it wasn't until I got home that I realised they were Sour Cream And Chive flavoured.
I quite like that flavour but was glad that the flavour on them isn't too strong. You can taste the pretzels under the flavouring but they're not as salty as I would like them to be, I love plain pretzels and was actually quite disappointed that these were flavoured at all.
The flavour is mainly the sour cream and the chives only comes through as a bit of a herby taste, I like the combination but I don't think they taste anything like the other brands of snacks that has the same flavour. The main one I can think of is the Pringles sour cream and chives flavour, this is a gorgeous flavour but it doesn't sit quite right on the pretzels.
I don't know what it is but I think the choice of flavour isn't right for the flavour of the pretzel, I mean you can taste the pretzel itself under the flavouring and they both manage to spoil each other! lol
They're lovely and crunchy to eat and I reckon if Slim Fast made some plain salted ones then all the dieters in the country would love them! I've had flavoured pretzels before but they was flavours that would go good with the salty flavour of pretzels, the best one I've had was salt and black pepper and they were delish.
This sour cream flavour just isn't the right sort of flavour for a pretzel and even though they was quite nice I won't be bothering with them again.
I came across Slim Fast Sour Cream & Chive Pretzels about a month ago, and now eat them at least twice a weak. The great thing is that unlike a lot of food in these healthy/slimming ranges, these actually taste nice, and with only 96 calories in a bag, you don't need to feel guilty afterwards.
I buy mine from Tescos (think they're 37p - but have also seen them in Boots for 49p!), and I came across them completely by accident, while browsing in healthy and beauty aisle. I have always like pretzels, but had been disappointed by the lack of them supermarkets. Presuming they would just simply be in the crisp/biscuit aisle, I never thought to look in health/beauty. So I think these pretzels are in a bit off an odd place in the store - they are hard to find.
For anyone who hasn't had pretzels before, to me they taste like a cross between biscuits and crisps, and like crisps, they come in different flavours. I think the Sour Cream & Chive flavour of the Slim Fast pretzels is really nice, but could be a bit strong for some people, and it makes your breathe slightly pongy!
The small 23 gram packet has a good amount of pretzels in it, and I feel it is good value for money (but maybe not so at more expensive places for food shopping, eg. Boots). As part of the Slim Fast food range (which includes milkshakes and meal bars), these pretzels are a snack which should be eaten between meals to keep you going. I don't know much about the Slim Fast diets (since the pretzels are the only items I buy from the range), but there is more information on the website: http://www.slimfast.co.uk/
To conclude, Slim Fast Sour Cream & Chive Pretzels are a really tasty yet healthy snack, and I would recommend them to anyone.
Slim Fast Sour Cream & Chive pretzels.
Slim Fast! They're the supposedly best food company for helping you lose weight while still being able to enjoy the foods that you love. Personally I don't know if they're the best company out there but their sour cream & chive pretzels are actually rather good.
If you're currently on a diet and looking for either a power snack or just something to cut out the unhealthy crisps in your diet then these are a very good alternative. They actually taste better than a greasy bag of Walkers crisps in my opinion.
What does the packaging look like? Where do I find them?
Well the pretzels come in a small red and white bag, about half the size of a regular bag of crisps. They can be found in the healthy living section in your local supermarket. I personally buy mine from Tesco who currently have a half price offer on all Slim Fast products. The pretzels cost me 26p for a 23g bag which is very cheap in my opinion.
So what do they actually taste like?
The actual pretzels don't taste anything special as they're just regular pretzels but the sour cream and chive flavouring is really nice and actually quite moreish which is bad if you're on a weight loss diet! Slim Fast are not tight when it comes to flavouring the pretzels either, they have quite a lot on them which is surprisingly nice.
If you are on a weight loss diet then I would definitely recommend these as a snack, especially when you crave something savoury. Weighing in at only 96 calories per bag, they won't ruin your diet or make you regret having them afterwards! Another plus is their fat content, containing only 1.9g of fat and only 0.2g of saturated fat per bag, which is excellent!
To summarise, these Slim Fast pretzels are a great alternative to fatty crisps, in my opinion they taste better too and even cost les. If you're on a slimming diet or just want to cut out unhealthy crisps from your diet then try these. Myself and my girlfriend both love them and we think you will too!
One of my New Years resolutions was to try eat a little healthier. Although I'm not trying to lose weight or anything like that I am aware I stuff myself constantly with rubbish and that sometimes I feel bloated and sluggish and I'm sure alot of my recent tiredness issues is due to my diet quite alot! So when I crave 'rubbish' I try and tone it down a little and not deprive myself of a snack but I try to choose something healthier and when I was out shopping the other day I had a snack craving, remembered my little resolution and opted for these to try. I thought they were going to be horrid actually due to seeing how many calories these contained lol
Red and white plastic bag which is silver foil (for freshness) on the inside. On the front there is a photograph of the pretzels and some flecks of fresh chive scattered over them. On the front in red and white writing I'm told that they are Slim-Fast, Snack, Sour Cream & Chive Flavour Pretzels and that they contain 96 calories. On the back there are a few words from Slim-Fast about healthy eating and their ideas for a healthy diet using the slim-fast system, nutritional information and ingredients are given, contact details for Unilever are given (the manufacturer of Slim-Fast products), size is stated the recycle symbol is there along with the best before date being stamped on and finally there is a bar-code displayed. Nice enough bag with plenty of information on there to make an informed choice as to whether they are suitable for you or not and I do like easy to understand labelling so being told at a glance that they contain 96 calories lets me know what I need to know straight away with no messing about!
Well the pretzels are a light golden brown colour and on some of them you can see some creamy powder (not all though) . They are slightly shiny, not very big and pop one in the mouth they have quite a deep crunch and snap to them for something that isn't so big! Taste wise they have a nice flavour of sour cream and a hint of chive flavouring going on and taste quite strongly. Some of course taste slightly stronger than others as to to how the flavouring is patchy throughout the product but not in a bad way. The wheat flavour comes through and they are nicely seasoned and not too salty or full of sweeteners either.
They melt in the mouth a bit though don't melt completely, are quite filling and by the time you finish the bag yes you do feel like you've eaten something so a gap is filled, breath does whiff and there is a strong after-taste but it can be rectified by cleaning teeth or having a drink lol. Also it's a good idea to have a wet wipe or tissue to hand or something because although these are not one bit greasy the powder flavouring does stick to the fingers a bit and makes them feel grimy and they do smell somewhat lol
A nice, feel good, healthy snack that tastes really nice and satisfies hunger pangs! I really like them... surprisingly!
May contain traces of Soya.
Nutritional Information..Per 23g bag....
of which is sugars 1.1g
of which is saturates 0.2g
I purchased mine in Boots at 49p but can be found in all sorts of outlets!
In my quest for healthy snacks that still make me feel like I have eaten something nice I thought I would try some of the ones from the slim fast range. The first one I tried was the sour cream & chive flavour pretzels.
They come in a small packet and look like a small bag of crisps. Like all the slim fast range the packaging is red and white and it has the slim fast logo across the top. There is a picture of the pretzels and bits of fresh chive on the front and it tells me that the pack contains 96 calories.
The back of the bag gives an outline of the slim fast diet which shows you are allowed three of their snacks during the day when following their plan. It also tells me that each pack contains 1.1g sugars, 1.9g fat and 0.13g sodium. Each bag weighs 23g. The pretzels are oven baked and made from wheat and potato. They also contain yeast, whey powder and may contain traces of soya for any allergy suffers out there.
When I opened the pack it was quite full and contained lots of little pretzels. Each one had quite a generous coating of the flavouring which has quite a strong taste. In my opinion these didn't taste like a diet or low fat snack. The sour cream and chive flavour was nice but maybe a little strong for some people. The pretzels where nice and crunchy and it was quite a filling snack, much more than a normal bag of crisps.
The only negative I can think of was they left quite a strong garlicky aftertaste which you need a mint or some gum to get rid of.
Overall I liked these and will be buying them again. I'm afraid I have lost the receipt but I think they were about 55p from Superdrug, but I have seen them much cheaper in Asda.
(at the moment all slimfast snacks are 3 for 2 in superdrug)
Slim Fast believe that losing weight should be a pleasure, that you should enjoy a variety of foods that are delicious as well as nutritionally balanced.
