“ Brand: Stateside Foods / Type. Bread „
I see this brand around now and again. It is in Asda's quite a lot now, and the Pizza's and garlic Bread are stacked high enough up, and have a good amount of shelf space.
This garlic bread costs £1. A bit cheaper than the Asda alternative which is £1.30. They are much the same size as well, and this one is in a cellophane wrapper in a box, whereas Asda's one is only in a wrapper.
This is just a Pizza Base garlic bread. It is a thin base with a good enough scraping of the Garlic Butter over the top.
You just put this in the oven for 12-15 minutes and this crisps the base up and the top is cooked, the Garlic nicely melted, but it is crisp enough as well with a slight brown colouring but still nice and soft. I don't like really crispy garlic bread anyway.
I would say this is a 9" size and we have half each. This is an alright amount of Garlic Bread as a side next to a large bit of Pizza.
This sin't too strong tasting. It is strong enough, but I think because there isn't loads of Garlic Butter on this then that's why it is lacking that Garlic kick. It is nice though and not overpowering.
A nice Garlic Bread that is fresh, soft and quite fluffy on the inside. A worthwhile buy.
I bought this Stateside Foods Italian Style Stonebaked Garlic Bread a little while ago from Morrisons for just £1. I believe that this is one of Morrisons 'discount brand' efforts that are being employed by many of the other supermarkets these days. I thought I would give it a try as I was drawn to the garlic bread baguettes but wanted somthing different. Anyways, it did not fit in my freezer which was the plan, so I left it in the fridge for the right occasion! I ate it with a curry (Birds Eye Healthy Options Chicken Curry - which I have also reviewed).
The garlic bread itself looks like a pizza without the toppings. It baked in the oven for just 8 minutes and smelt wonderful. It is definitely garlic bread and the garlic really shone through in the smell. It smelt very fresh, like freshly baked bread - which is of course kind of what it is!
The top of the bread looked very oily with the garlic butter melting. I cut the garlic bread in half and then folded it. It resembled the garlic bread that we get from our local pizza take-away establishment.
The whole garlic bread is 235g and provides 738kcal and 44.9g of fat, which is absolutely ridiculous. I did not check this out beforehand and I really wish I had done so.
So, on reflection, I will NEVER buy this again. the amount of calories and fat is terrifying. It did taste amazing so if you are not particularly bothered about these elements then try it. I however do care about my poor little heart!
