Tesco 2 Pack Sausage Rolls
Advantages: In Tescos favour that you have been conned in parting with your hard earned cash
Disadvantages: You have been conned.
Tesco Lincolnshire sausage rolls.
Roll it over and don't do it again!
Occasionally I am quite partial to a sausage roll as I view it as a rare treat as opposed to something that is eaten regularly. My wife had not only bought these Lincolnshire sausage rolls but also some cheese and onion rolls.
When I opened the fridge I only saw the cheese and onion sausage rolls so was not aware of the Lincolnshire sausage rolls. She heated them through and brought them to me whilst I was preparing some work in my study. I was quite pleased that she had obviously thought of me as I liked sausage rolls which I ate and told her they were very nice because I didn't want to cause offence by saying they were not.
I have never eaten any sausage rolls that actually tasted of nothingness. They were bland and tasteless and although I know that a decent Lincolnshire sausage is supposedly quite a tasty sausage I was even more alarmed to think I did not even know what I was eating.
In the kitchen this morning she asked me how I liked the sausage rolls. I said they didn't taste very cheesy she said well they wouldn't because they were Lincolnshire sausage rolls. So I owned up to actually not knowing what I had eaten as they were just tasteless pap and to be honest really quite horrible.
The pastry was fairly ok but the inside the filling of the sausage really did not taste of anything. So embarrassingly I owned up to saying they are quite dreadful. It makes me wonder sometimes do the buyers and tasters of these products actually taste them. What on earth are Tesco doing selling such an inferior tasteless product? Looks to me as someone needs to examine who they are actually employing in their tasting department!!
The packaging tells me what is in the sausage rolls and is as follows:-
Wheat flour, water, Pork 23%,vegetable oil, wheat starch, salt, dried skimmed milk, sage, parsley, yeast extract, black pepper, ginger, thyme, onion powder, nutmeg, oregano, basil, marjoram, black pepper extract, nutmeg extract, coriander extract.
Well there you have it. I would sincerely advise you to avoid this tasteless pap and don't waste your money on such a dreadful product and shame on Tesco for selling such a horrible tasteless imitation of a sausage roll. Looking at the listed ingredients you would have thought that the sausage rolls would have been quite tasty. I don't know in what concentration the herbs and spices were put into them but it must have been in minuscule proportions. In reality with pork featuring in the sausage roll at only 23% it is hardly surprising it is an inferior product although I guess that they are making that assessment based on the whole of the sausage roll.
I have had to rate this product as it does not allow a minus rate or zero rating so begrudgingly I rate it one star but bear it mind it should be minus five.
Summary: Absolute tasteless and vile rubbish. Don't waste your money.
