“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Snacks „
If like us you're having a buffet on Xmas Day night then you should have a look at some of the Tesco party food, it's proper reasonably priced and most of the things I've tried from the range so far has been yummy. These Chicken Bites come frozen and take about 20 mins to cook, you get quite a few pieces of chicken in each container and even though they are small I thought they were proper filling. I wasn't mad keen on the sweet and sour sauce because I thought it was a bit too sugary tasting but I just used my own sauce out of the cupboard and that made the chicken bites taste a lot more exciting. I think they're a bit bland when you have one on their own but I put a bit of salt and vinegar on mine and that brought the flavour out a lot better. The chicken is good quality and isn't gristly or fatty at all, it cooks to be nice and tender and reminded me of the popcorn chicken you can buy from KFC. The batter on each chicken bite is nice, I thought it had got a bit of a greasy flavour but you can't notice that much when you let them cool down a bit and add some sauce. The batter is nice and crispy on the outside but is thicker than I thought it would be, thats good this time because the batter goes lovely and soft where it touches the chicken. Like I said I wasn't mad keen on the sauce that comes with these chicken bites but I warmed some of my own sweet and sour sauce up and poured that on the plate. When they were dipped into this sauce they were a bit like the battered sweet and sour chicken from the Chinese by me, I reckon if you cooked some bites and poured a good quality sauce over them you could get a yummy main meal out of them. These are £2.00 a pack and worth it I reckon, but at the minute they are on special offer where you can buy 2 packs for £3.00 and i think that makes it better value.
