I have been trying to lose some weight for the summer months and people who read my reviews on a regular basis will know I have been doing well so far and lost most of my excess weight, which I gained during the winter months, and so I am able to have more treats now and keep a more stable weight and so I thought I would try an egg custard tart from Tesco and give them a try as I had not tried them before.

The ones I bought came in a pack of 2, and they also are available in packs of 4 but I thought I would not buy the bigger packet as I may have been tempted to eat more than one lol.

Each one is in a foil cup container and a pastry case filled with a thick firm custard, the custard is a nice consistency and the texture is nice and soft, it is also smooth and easy to swallow, the pastry is a nice thickness too and not bland as I thought it may be at first and the custard tarts are inside a cardboard box to keep them nice and fresh and the box is pretty basic.

For a pack of 2 they were priced at only 58p and a very good quality for a lower brand of pastry cakes in my opinion, and they were very tasty and just the right size of around 2 inches deep and the top is sprinkled with Nutmeg and the custard is a nice pale yellow colour and looks very inviting.

My hubby drizzled a little cream onto his as he thought it was absolutley delicious.

It tells me on the box that there are no artificial preservatives, flavours, colours or hydrogenated fat.

Each tart contains 240 calories, 13.4g sugar, 11.5g fat and 4.8g of saturates and so I do not think they contain too many calories for a treat if you are on a diet and trying to lose a little bit of weight.

I do recommend these for anyone to give them a try as I think they are absolutely delicious and tasty and I will be buying them again in the future.
