It was my mates little boys birthday last week and I did a BAAAAD thing and forgot!!! Just forgot... how disgusting is that because I love the lad!!! My mate found it dead funny but I was soooooooo angry with myself and decided to make it up to him today so I took my sisters round and got a bit of party food in so make a bit of an occasion of giving him his late pressies.

I didn't intend to buy a cake but when I saw this I had to get it for him because he's a football mad 4 year old and is mega excited about the world cup.

It cost £6.99 and isn't all that big but it's a typical sweet birthday cake so it will serve more people than you think because you only need a thin slice and if you try and be greedy with it you'll just end up wasting half of a thick slice.

The cake looks good before you cut it, it comes on its own board and has got a ribbon going round it. On the ribbon there are stickers of different England players but they don't stick very good once you take them off the ribbon so they're not a very good free gift! lol The cake is covered in shiny icing and on top there is an eating paper topping showing Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry and that was half the reason I brought the cake because I knew Liam's fave players are Rooney and Beckham.

The cake tastes nice, it's a dead basic birthday cake and nothing special but I've not had birthday cake for ages so it tasted wicked to me! lol It's a plain sponge cake with buttercream and jam in the middle. There isn't that much jam and I think it would have tasted nicer if there was a bit more jam but it tastes delish anyway! The sponge is nicer than I thought it would be and isn't dry at all, apparently it doesn't keep very well because what we didn't eat I left with my mate and she said by the next day the sponge had gone mega dry and she had to do some custard up to moisten it.

I like the icing because Tesco haven't put it madly thick like on some of their cakes so that means the cake isn't majorly sickly. That's a lot better because the sweetness of the thick icing is what puts me off buying supermarket birthday cakes.

Recommended..... PERFECT for someone with a birthday while the world cup is on!!!
