Tesco Fig Rolls
Advantages: excellent value and taste great.
Disadvantages: Only around 12 per pack so we need two in our home.
Sitting there last night I really fancied a cuppa tea and something nice to just nibble on. So I popped down to my local Tesco express to pick up milk and something nice.
I came across these fig rolls. My partner really liked these so I popped two into my basket as I knew he would eat most of them.
I'm not really sure if they would be classed as a biscuit or a cake. I found them with all the biscuit products in the store, but they have a lovely soft texture more like a cake.
They were priced at only 34pence for a 200g packet, which contains around 12 fig rolls.
Once you have opened the packaging you will see that the figs are held in a cardboard topless box which is recyclable and stops them from getting crushed.
They are around an inch and a half in length and an inch wide. Depth is around 1cm. They are the perfect size for children to hold as well.
Each biscuit has a lovely soft baked pastry outer shell and inside is a thick sugary fig paste filling. They are soft and easy to eat. I found the nice and chewy. The filling is very sugary and smooth with nice chunks of fig mixed in. The outer baked pastry does have a lovely soft texture but somewhat reminds me of the textue of shoartbread biscuits. When you bite into them they feelo slightly very yet soft. They are very tasty and will satify your need for somthing sweet with a slight kick.
Each fig roll contains70 claries and 8.3grams of sugar, so not the best thing to have. But they are suitable for vegetarians and contain no nuts but this always isn't 100%.
These really completed my cuppa tea nicely, and they can get very Moorish. They are excellent value and are of top quality. I would recommend giving these ago is you fancy something sweet and tasty.
Summary: Goes great with a cuppa.
