Advantages: Wholemeal. Tasty. Light. Hold shape. Slit easily.
Disadvantages: None really.
i will occasionally buy Tesco Large Wholemeal Pitta Bread as a change from normal bread - and it does serve as a really nice lunch base item. A pack of the Tesco Large Wholemeal Pitta Bread costs just 80p - and as there are six pitta breads in the packet then this equates to 13p per bread piece.
The breads are wholemeal and they do have a decidedly wholemeal flavour and it's quite light and non-stodgy. They have a very subtle nutty flavour to them and are rich but also do not take away from the overall flavour of the filling. I think they are best served if they are wiped over with a bit of water and then put in the oven for about 3 minutes so that they go slightly crispy and crown - and when they're warm they taste even lighter. Then I like to fill them with tuna mayonnaise with chopped up cucumber, onion and tomato - and it's really delicious. The bread slits open easily and holds its shape as long as the flavour in it is not to much or too wet.
Overall, these make a good lunch option and they are better than many other own brands I have tried. Recommended.
Summary: A good lunch option.
