I didn't think you could buy lemon curd tarts anymore because most of the yellow ones are apricot flavour now, I've been fancying them big time recently though and the day I found these in Tesco I was actually in there for a jar of lemon curd to get my mum to make some! lol I still got the lemon curd but these was delish and only 74p so it's not worth the stress of making them! lol
You get 6 in a box and they come in little tin foil cases like all jam tarts, it's wicked because you get a box of pure lemon curd tarts without any other flavours.
There's nothing wrong with them and I reckon they're as good as Mr Kipling jam tarts. Tesco have used proper good quality lemon curd and it's a bit tangy but sweet at the same time, I love that it tastes a bit like proper lemons so you've got that tangy taste to it. There's quite a bit of lemon curd in the tarts because the pastry cases are deep, it's got a wickedly stickey and tasty texture and is just yummy!
The pastry is proper nice, it's crumbly and has got a lovely sweet flavour. That's why the lemon curd is so nice with it being tangy I think because the pastry is sweet enough to take the bite off a bit. I think it's delish and it's got a nice texture that melts in your mouth better than I thought it would.
I reckon these lemon curd tarts would go wicked with that ready made tinned custard, have it cold straight out of the tin because it tastes sweetest like that and dump it straight on top of the tarts. Yummy!
Recommended!!! I'm deffo going to buy these lemon curd tarts again, I didn't think to look for supermarket own brands when Mr Kipling stopped selling their lemon curd ones.... I'm glad I've found these though and it's saved my mum a job as well even though hers are still a bit better! lol
