A wonderful savoury snack, would definitely recommend

This is another product that I've recently started buying in an attempt to eat a better diet and have healthier snacks. They're available from Tesco's at the cost of £1.14 for a 144g packet.

The first thing I have to note is that they are wrapped in a plastic covering, which is resealable by a flexible metal clip. This packet makes a horrendous squeaky noise when you move it and it send shivers down my spine - not in a good way! Very annoying, but it does keep the food fresh so I guess it does the job.

The rice cakes themselves look pretty standard. Round, flat, plain, with a covering of orangey dust. This is what contains all the flavour. They are lightweight and crisp to bite into. They are nice and crunchy but also have an airy texture. The chilli taste is mild and well-rounded, it is the type of flavour that builds up as you're eating it, instead of giving an instant blast to your taste buds. It gives a nice warm, spicy flavour without too much heat. The chilli flavouring works well and this is a satisfying savoury snack.

I do not feel full after just one rice cake, but 2 (or 3 if I'm filling a long gap between meals), do the trick nicely and the nutritional content is very good for you so you don't have to worry that you are overeating by having more than one at a time. With only 38 calories, 0.2g of saturated fat, and 0.4g of sugar per cake, you can feel like you're getting a tasty treat and have no worries about what it will do to your figure! I find that one packet provides me with enough snacks for 2 weeks, I usually mix it up with other things so I don't get bored.

You could quite easily spice things up a bit more and make this into the basis of a light lunch by treating it like a cracker and adding things as a topping. Try salsa, cream cheese, salad, houmous, or cold meats - you can use whatever takes your fancy and they're very versatile.
