Advantages: Crunchy, not too dry.

Disadvantages: Overpowering prawn taste

Chinese food had been my favourite for a very long time. Seeing as it is much cheaper than buying from takeaway shops, I buy the oriental range from Tesco. These chinese style prawn crackers were a must have for a complete chinese dinner.

Of course, they are also great as a snack at any time of the day.

The packaging is nothing extraordinary. It has changed sinse the picture was added on here. A white background accompanies a picture of a bowl of the crackers, some text and an attempt at some chinese symbols. This packaging did not scream quality to me, but I wasn't going to let that deter me from trying them.

Biting into the first cracker, I felt that the taste of prawn was actually overpowering, and did not allow me to enjoy the texture or other flavours. Going onto the second cracker, with the taste of prawn in my mouth, it was not as overpowering, but still too strong. However, I could take in the texture this time. They have a very satisfying crunch to them , without being too dry or salty. They are not quite the melt-in-the-mouth texture that I would like to experience.

Another big disadvantage to these crackers is the nutritional value. At 115 calories per 20g, these are definately not to be a frequent snack.

Overall, I think Tesco has got the texture right, but needs to tone down the amount of prawn (17%). However, this may not matter too much if combined with other chinese food, or dips.

Summary: Ok, but not great.
