      A nice fresh salty nut.

Now I'm not a nut connoisseur as I'm sure my husband would vouch for but I do like a nibble from time to time. The last packet of nuts I found in the cupboard after the other half had been out foraging were 'Tesco jumbo roasted and salted peanuts'. What can I say about them, well they are roasted and they are salty, but they're not that big for jumbo nuts, and they don't taste as 'rounded' somehow as KP nuts for example. They come in 4 sizes from 900g (£2.99) to a 100g 49p pack. I have to admit I was surprised when I saw the price for the big pack, I thought it was a bit expensive for a supermarket own brand, but as I've said I'm not a nut connoisseur so I looked it up and it's fair bit cheaper than the equivalent size of K.P peanuts. We usually buy one of the smaller size packs. . . when I say we it's usually the husband buying them to go with a can or two while he watches the rugby, when he senses rustling in his stash this leads to the normally unheard of cry of "leave my nuts alone". The bag is the usual foiled type which keeps the product nice and fresh. The nuts while being bigger than standard peanuts don't look as 'jumbo' as other brands we've tried. They do have a nice snap to them if you should want to break them up, which shows that they're nice and fresh. The husband finds this snapability very hand as the dog loves peanuts but he's not allowed to eat too many of the salted type, so he breaks a few up to give to Buster while he's eating his own, so that the poor half starved (not) boy doesn't feel left out. The colour is nice and they don't appear over roasted, they are if anything they are a little pale, and there is no greasy sheen to the nuts as I've witnessed with some roasted peanuts. They have a nice balance of salt not too much nor too little. What more can I say, they taste peanuty, but they don't have quite the depth of peanutiness that some brands do. However I enjoyed my misappropriated bounty almost as much as I would a pack of K.P. Of course these nuts contain the same healthy fibre and protein content that other peanuts do. Not to mention their fat content being composed primarily of monounsaturated fat, which is good for the heart, and are full of other health antioxidants and vitamins, eaten in moderation they are a healthy snack, despite the salt, and calorie content. Just 25g contains 150 calories! Ouch, that's an extra long walk for the dogs as I must have eaten at least a third of the pack in one go! A nice nutty snack for a reasonable price.

Yummy Peanuts For A Nice Change!

I don't eat peanuts all that often but this bag was left over from Xmas and when I found them in the back of the cupboard I couldn't wait to have a munch because we hadn't got hardly anything else nice in... and I just fancied some nuts that day so it was a double bonus!!! These are the Jumbo Salted Peanuts and come in a slightly different pack to the one Dooyoo have got up, the pack I've got in front of me is more of a purple colour and shows peanuts that have been photographed to look as big as possible! A 200g bag is 85p and I reckon that's a good price because the smaller bags of KP nuts are usually more expensive than that! The nuts are deffo bigger than normal sized KP nuts but I wouldn't actually say they're MASSIVE or anything. They taste dead fresh and have got a wicked buttery texture as you chew them. They've been roasted good and have got a nice roasted taste that brings out the flavour of the peanuts well, I think there's just the right amount of salt on them as well. There's enough to make you a bit thirsty while you're eating the peanuts but not that much that your mouth feels mega dry. You can feel the salt in the grease on the outside of the peanut but it's not like some nuts that make the sides of your mouth sore because of all the salt on them. I reckon the salt on these brings the flavour out proper nice, the peanuts have got a dead nice taste and I enjoyed them loads more than I thought I was going to. They're not majorly dry either and that's a bonus because I think when they're dry nuts just taste stale and these ones have got just the right texture to make them taste and feel fresh as you're eating them. They don't feel that greasy either as you're eating the peanuts even though your fingers will get a bit manky, that's because of the sunflower oil they're roasted in as well as the oil that comes out of the actual peanuts. I wouldn't say they taste greasy at all actually and it's more like a moist and mega delish hand full of peanuts. Recommended... cheaper than KP and just as nice!!!
