Advantages: Really soft bread, tears easily
Disadvantages: High in calories, and expensive
We like to have garlic bread with near enough every meal in our house, and whilst I was shopping in tesco last week, I noticed this tesco tear and share garlic bread. I have never noticed it before so it must be new, or not been out for very long. We always tend to buy the baguettes, so I thought this would be something new to try.
It cost £1.75 in tescos, and you get one big piece of bread, which is quite lumpy and I thought it would be a bit like naan bread. This tear and share bread was the nicest garlic bread we have had. It is so soft and it really does tear easily, much easier than naan breads tear. The bread is the softest bread I have had, and it was really light to eat. The bread has parsley and garlic mixed in it, and then is topped with garlic and parsley butter.
The garlic was not too strong, it was really nice, and it smelt lovely whilst cooking in the oven. All you do to cook this tear and share garlic bread is place it on a baking tray for 10-12 minutes on 200 degrees. If you are cooking it from frozen it takes 18-20 minutes on 180 degrees. We had ours straight from the fridge that night, and it cooked really well in just 10 minutes.
This garlic bread is very high in calories, with one quarter of the bread containing 195 calories. So it is very bad for you, and we could have ate one each! It is suitable for home freezing, and for vegetarians.
This garlic bread wasn't really enough for the two of us, we could have ate a lot more. I do think it is quite expensive for the amount you get, as next time we would probably want two of these, and at £1.75 each, to buy two for one meal would be a bit expensive.
But as a treat now and again I will definitely buy this tear and share bread again, it was really soft and tasty and a nice alternative to garlic baguettes.
Summary: A nice alternative to garlic baguettes
