A lovely alternative to chocolate cakes for celebrations!

I bought this cake for my work colleagues to celebrate my birthday. I quite like carrot cakes in general, and was attracted by the nice presentation of it. It comes in a clear plastic casing so you can see the whole cake inside.

I usually try and buy a couple of cakes for my birthday as chocolate isn't to everyone's taste, so I bought this cake as well as a Tesco chocolate cake priced at £6.00. This carrot cake costs £7.99 so isn't really cheap, but looked attractive so thought I'd give it a try. This cake was generally more popular with my colleagues than the chocolate cake , so I was glad I had made a good choice!

The cake is described as a Carrot and Orange triple layer cake, and is topped with buttercream and decorated with little cute sugar carrots and white chocolate curls on the top and on the sides. Looks very rich and decadent!

It is a nice soft and rich cake, which lovely creamy coating. The triple layer refers to the 3 layers of carrot cake, which have 2 layers of buttercream in between. The carrot cake itself is lovely, moist and gently flavoured, and the balance of cream and cake is lovely. It's not too sweet which is good, as some cakes overdo it sometimes. There is a nice subtle flavour of both carrot and orange which is very nicely balanced.

I initially had a very large slab of cake, which I found too sickly at the time, but if you have a nice normal sized slice you should be fine!!

If you want something alternate to chocolate, this is a really nice cake for a celebration. Looks pretty too! If you like a carrot cake for normal eating rather than celebrations, I recommend the carrot cake by Respect Organics, which can also be found in supermarkets like Tesco.

All in all, a good buy! If I was on the lookout for another celebration cake in future, I would definitely consider buying this again!
