Tesco Value Bourbon Creams
Advantages: Taste good, amazingly cheap!
Disadvantages: Bad for you!!
As you will see from my Tesco Value Custard Creams review, I had to buy a few packets of biscuits for a family gathering we were having, and as, along with most people(!), I am living on a budget, I bought some biscuits from the Tesco Value range. One of these packets was the Tesco Value Bourbon Creams.
I think that Tesco Value sometimes has a bad reputation, and undeservedly so if these biscuits are anything to go by - however, I don't think they help themselves with the distinctive packaging!
I bought the biscuits from Tesco. The packaging is similar to the custard creams packaing. The packaging is white, with red and blue bits, which is recognisable as Tesco Value. The packet is a thin wrapper, and I found it easier to open whn I had a knife, and this could be improved.
There are two bourbons on the front of the packet, and these look the same as the biscuits which are inside. The back of the packet has the nutritional information.
The packet has 400g of biscuits in, and they are stacked in two rows.
The biscuits look exactly the same as any other Bourbon. There are two chocolate biscuits, sanwiched together with a chocolate cream - basically a chocolate version of a custard cream - but bigger!
The biscuits are nice and crunchy, and are quite sweet and sugary - tasty, but not good for you! The biscuits have a good chocolate taste and are perfect sandwiched together with the chocolate cream. The cream, again, has a nice chocolately taste, and the cream is quite thick and creamy.
I did have a couple of broken biscuits in the packet - I assumed they would not travel well and I guess they must have been knocked in the shopping bags. Because of this, I think the biscuits are good at home but probably not ideal for a lunchbox as they would make a mess!
Each biscuit has 70kcal and 1.8g of saturated fat, and therefore are definitely not good for you! Maybe one or two is ok...!
The packet is an absolute bargain at about 46p! These are definitely good value and will be bought again when we have family. I generally try to not have biscuits in though as they are too easy to pick at!
Everyone seemed to like the biscuits, and I even told them that they were a Tesco Value brand and they said they never would have guessed and would be buying them themselves!
Give them a go, an absolute bargain and another good Tesco Value product - well done Tesco!
Summary: Great biscuits!
