Advantages: Cheap, cheap, cheap

Disadvantages: none

I use digestive biscuits for all manner of things, not just for a quick dunk!

As you may have read from my previous reviews, I am no stranger to cheese, and its marriage with anything which will act as a carriage to my mouth of said dairy product. Digestive biscuits are fantastic with a dollop of butter and a slab of cheese.

I also like to use digestive biscuits as a base when making cheesecake. Put the required amount of biscuits into a bag and give them a good pummelling with a rolling pin, place the crumbs in the base of your baking tin and pour melted butter over these, and into the fridge till everything sets.

Another lovely thing to do with digestive biscuits it to make breakfast!!

Yes!

Break up some digestives into a cereal bowl and pour on milk!

Let the milk soak through the biccies and mush them up into a lovely gooey mess. Better still heat this lot up on a cold winter's day.

So far so good. How do Tesco Value Digestive Biscuits measure up to all these non dunking uses?

Well they do just fine. There isn't really too much to say about a digestive after all, unless it doesn't fit up to the jib of being a digestive. These are the texture and taste I would expect of a digestive biccie. They are not at all hard or over-crumbly. They taste just as good as a McVities, or similarly branded biscuit.

They work fine with my cheese. They do the job as a cheesecake base. They are a breakfast cereal substitute.

The big difference between these and the leaders is the packaging and price. The packaging is plain white with a picture of some digestive biscuits on the front. Say no more! No fancy expensive studio set up photo of a plate of biscuits next to granny's finest china tea set. You can see what is in there - no need to sell you a lifestyle when you want a biscuit.

And as for the price. You are looking at around 30p for a decent sized packet, compared to approaching a quid for one of the brand names.

Excellent value!

If I ever come to tea feel free to offer me McVities, but I wont mind a Tesco Value Digestive Biscuit.

Summary: Excellent value digestive biscuit
