Advantages: cheap, taste nice
Disadvantages: not as good as McVities
I'm a big fan of digestive biscuits, nothing beats them to dip in a cup of tea (don't dip too long though or you end up with half a biscuit in your cup!). They are also pretty versatile for a biscuit, I love them with some cheese or a bit of butter on them, maybe slightly weird but I'm a huge fan of mixing sweet and savoury things together! You can also bash them up and mix with melted butter to make a cheesecake base or bash them up and mix with chocolate and marshmallows to make rocky road. All hail the digestive biscuit!
The tesco value biscuits (now rebranded "everyday value") come in a pack of 400g which contains around 25 biscuits. Currently they cost the bargain price of 30p, compare that to around £1 for MacVities digestives you are getting a great deal. The digestives biscuits come in a plain packet, slightly different from the one pictured due to the rebranding of the value range, the packet is white with a picture of some digestives and a pattern of teapots, cups and biscuits on it. The new packaging is actually a lot nicer than the old packaging, although the biscuits have remained the same the packaging has been completely changed, makes the biscuits look less cheap I think.
The biscuits look the exact same as McVities, they are round and a sort of light brown colour and have "sweetmeal digestive biscuits" printed on the front. The texture is really good, being quite solid without being too hard or too crumbly. The taste is pretty good for a 30p packet of biscuits, they are slightly sweeter than brand named equivalents but I have a bit of a sweet tooth so that doesn't bother me. Each biscuit contains 80 calories, 2.9g of sugar and 3.4g of fat, this is compared to McVities biscuits which have 70 calories 2.5g of sugar and 3.2g of fat, so very similar. You do sometimes find that the value range products are less healthy with more sugar ect, this is slightly the case here but not too bad.
Overall these biscuits are great value for money, so if you are trying to cut down your spending then its worth giving them a go, they are not as good as McVities but come pretty close
Summary: great value digestives
