Advantages: None

Disadvantages: They are not very nice

I love chocolate biscuits, all the great favourites, chocolate Hob-Nobs, bourbons, chocolate fingers and of course McVities Milk Chocolate Digestives,

But then the credit crunch started and to help save money I looked at where I could save money. I've even given up my regular Hotel Chocolat for cheaper versions. However would my love of biscuits be satisfied with Value versions? I mean how good could they be for an average of 30p a packet?

The first noticeable difference is the size, they definitely have a smaller circumference, and lack the thickness compared to full price ones.

The appearance of them isn't exactly inspiring, the biscuit is a kind of pale gold. I know biscuits can be pale but these are just weak. The chocolate is just a thin scraping, nearly thin enough to see the biscuit underneath. It's also extremely pale almost as if the chocolate had tried to do a runner before it got a good scraping. In short they don't look the most appetising in the world.
And to be honest I wasn't confident that they would taste very nice and I wasn't disappointed in that either.

I always duck my biscuits in my coffee and rather disgustingly suck off all the chocolate. Well it survived the dunk test by staying intact but the chocolate did not melt at all. The biscuit did not really melt in the mouth either, it just moulded into a paste. A paste that stuck to my teeth and the roof of my mouth. And its quite an unpleasant paste at that, you can feel the grains of sugar on your tongue. That was the only thing I could taste, the thing is essentially a digestive biscuit, so a little oatiness would have been nice. But apart from the sugar, completely tasteless.

These, for me, unfortunately cannot be considered a worthy replacement for Tesco's own full price version, let alone McVities.

On other things I will scrimp and save but on my chocolate biscuits I refuse to be swayed! I have to be honest though I'd probably keep them for unwanted visitors rather than sacrificing my Chocolate Hob-Nobs!

Summary: A cheap chocolate version of the popular Chocolate Digestive!
