Tesco Value Snack Assortment
Advantages: Cheap, nice flavours
Disadvantages: The salt and vinegar sticks are a bit too vinegar-y
In order to save a little money, over the past few months I have started taking a packed lunch to work rather than buying sandwiches in town at lunchtime. I have to say it has saved me a lot of money so far but I am always looking for ways to save a bit more. I have also started shopping online and found Tesco to be very reasonable on price but still good quality. Having tried a few of their other Value products, I decided to try the snack assortment.
PRICE: At 48p, this pack is an absolute bargain. To put this price into context, a 12 packet Walkers Variety pack costs £2.28 from Tesco - over four times as expensive!
PACKAGING: The packaging of the larger bag is similar to those inside it. Each bag is white with a blue strip across it with the name of the product printed in white on top of this. In the top left corner, it bears the 'Tesco Value' logo in blue and red. The bottom right corner of the packet shows thr content in terms of calories, sugar, fat, saturates and salt so it is clear to see what you are getting. Each bag is 14g which looks quite small but for me is just the right amount. Unlike Walkers crisps, each bag is actually quite full so they make a very good addition to a packed lunch without leaving you feeling stuffed.
CHEESE PUFFS: These are like Wotsits but, in my opinion, better! They are not as overpoweringly cheesy as Wotsits but still have a nice flavour. They are crunchy and not greasy. The amount you get in a pack is just right. As they don't have as much flavouring on them as Wotsits, you also don't get orange fingers with these!
SALT N VINEGAR CRUNCHY STICKS: These are like Smith's Chipsticks but are a bit thinner and not quite so crunchy. Again, you get a good bagful of these, more than enough to fill you up. They are a little too vinegar-y for my liking but still have a good taste and texture.
ONION RINGS: These are my favourites. When you open the bag, you get quite an overpowering onion smell but fortunately the snack itself isn't so strongly flavoured. They are not greasy and are nice and crunchy with a lovely taste. I would advise that you have a packet of mints close at hand after eating these though!
VERDICT: Very good value for money, Tesco Value Snack Assortment is perfect for a packed lunch. I prefer having these to regular crisps as they are not so samey and have a lot of flavour rather than all just tasting of salt. Since buying my first pack of these, I have added it to my regular shopping list. One multipack lasts me about two weeks, which for 48p is pretty amazing really!
Summary: A cheap alternative to branded multipacks
