Tesco Value Tortilla Chips
Advantages: Nice and crunchy, gpod amount of salt used, very cheap
Disadvantages: Only available at Tesco
I have to admit to being a great fan of Nachos and lately I have been making my own at home rather than buying the pre made kits. This is where Tesco value Tortilla Chips come in very handy... and to top it off (no pun intended) they are also yummy to eat by themselves.
Tesco tortilla chips come in a packet identical to a crisp packet. Half of the packaging is see through so you can see the tortilla chips through the packaging and the other half of the packet is plain white. Tesco value is written in the top left hand corner of the packet and 'lightly salted tortilla chips' is written underneath that.
These tortilla chips are obviously bought at Tesco and they cost 46p for a 200 gram pack which I think is a very reasonable price compared to other tortilla chips such as Doritos.
The Tortilla Chip
These tortilla chips are pretty much identical to Doritos - they are triangular in shape and measure approximately 6cm x 4cm. Some of the chips are flat and others curl up at the edges.
The colour of the tortillas is a golden yellow with little brown bits mingled in.
These tortilla chips are slightly salted which is lovely and adds that little something extra to what would probably be a quite boring snack. The tortilla chips are always nice and crunchy.
Eaten on their own they can be a nice little snack although nothing to exciting as they don't have a great amount of flavour except for the salt. Personally I love salt so I do like snacking on there. The saltiness of these chips is more obvious when they are eaten by themselves.
As well as being eaten by themselves as a snack, these Tortilla chips can also be used for a whole variety f other snacks. You can use the curled up edges of the tortilla chips to collect the dip which is quite useful. I quite like having a bowl of salsa dip and a bowl of grated mild cheddar and then loading the tortilla chip up with both! Lovely!
These tortilla chips can also be used when making Nachos and seeing as they are so cheap to buy, they work out much cheaper than buying the pre made packs of Nachos that are sold in the shops.
I would definitely recommend these tortilla chips. They are nice and crunchy and excellent value for money. The saltiness adds a little bit of spice to the chips, without being too overpowering. I prefer using these tortilla chips when I am having dips etc as they are not flavoured so do not overpower the flavour of the dip like some of the Doritos flavoured tortilla chips do.
