Advantages: Cheap and tasty

Disadvantages: None for me

LIke many other people I'm on a constant quest to save money, which has now become even more important for me to do as I'm now single, umemployed and living on my own. Wow, that really makes me sound a catch!

One way I'm always trying to save a few pennies is by trying cheaper brands and more of often then not it is the Tesco Value range that I turn to and so I decided to try out the Tesco Value Pitta Bread.

These sell at 18p for a pack of 6, which is incredible value as the standard Tesco range is 55p. As with the Value range these are packaged in a see through plastic sleeve with the usual Tesco Value logo in red and blue.

Taste wise these are excellent and I really cannot distinguise between these and the standard range and definitely recommend them to anyone that eats pitta bread. I find these slice just as well as the standard range and hold whatever filling I use.

Pitta bread is a very versitile bread which I use as a substitue for bread when I'm bored with normal sandwiches so I always have a pack or two lurking away in the freezer. Another great thing is that these defrost rapidly so there's no panic that you haven't got them out of the freezer in time.

Here's a quick receipe for one of my fave fillings -

~ Ingredients ~
Broadbeans
Bacon
Mayonaise

~ Instructions ~
Cut bacon into small pieces.
Heat some oil in a pan and then add the broadbeans and bacon. Fry until the broadbeans have turned white and, along with the bacon, as crispy as you desire.
Warm the pitta bread in a toaster for a few seconds so that it doesn't go too hard. Split open, squirt in some mayo and spoon in the broadbeans and bacon.

Some ammedments I sometimes make to this filling and to add mushrooms and/or black pudding.

Enjoy

Summary: A great versititle bread when you want something a bit different to a normal sandwich
