Tasty Snack Bars!
Member Name: star3683
Advantages: tasty, good flavour and texture combination, individually wrapped
Disadvantages: A little expensive when not on offer
When I started my new job a few months ago I got into the bad habit of snacking on unhealthy things like biscuits. Recently I have tried to change my ways and have been on the lookout for different snacks. While shopping in Tesco a couple of weeks ago I spotted boxes of tracker bars, and although they are still quite a sweet snack I thought that they would be slightly better and more satisfying than munching my way through a few biscuits.
The tracker bars come in a box of 8 and currently cost £1.99, although I paid just £1.00 per box when they were on a half price special offer. The tracker bars come in different varieties including roasted nut, chocolate chip and strawberry. As I have quite and sweet tooth and am a big chocolate fan then I opted to purchase the choc chip variety.
The tracker bars as I stated come in a box with the bars all individually wrapped inside, this makes the bars perfect for popping into a lunch box or bag to be eaten on the go. You can find all the necessary information about the bars on the packaging including, a description of the bars, nutritional information, allergy advice and ingredients listings. It also states that the bars contain no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives and are also suitable for vegetarians.
As I stated I purchased these bars as a slightly healthier snacking option although they do still contain quite a bit of sugar and fat. A single 28g tracker bar contains the following nutritional information:
Calories - 126
Sugars - 8.0g
Fat - 6.2g
Salt - 0.11g
The choc chip tracker bars are cereal bars with chewy oats, crisped rice, peanuts and chocolate chips. When you open the wrapper the bar in rectangular in shape and in all fairness do not actually look that appealing as it is a beige colour with chocolate chips scattered on the top. But please do not let the appearance of the bar put you off as they are actually very tasty. The bars have a lovely combination of textures from the crispiness of the puffed rice and peanuts to the chewiness of the slightly caramelised 'goo' that binds the whole bar together. The chocolate chips add a nice sweet and creamy taste to the bar and works well with the cereal. These are not the biggest bars but I find them to be quite satisfying and certainly make a great snack. I am fully aware that they are still quite high in calories but this is still not as bad as eating a few biscuits or a chocolate bar.
Overall I think these are great little cereal/snack bars that are perfect to eat on the go and provide a nice sweet treat without being too naughty. I do think the full price is a little on the high side but it is certainly worth looking out for special offers. I would certainly recommend these bars and will definitely be purchasing them again in the future and possibly try the other varieties too.
Summary: A great little cereal bar for breakfast or snacking!
