“ Brand: Tyrrells / Type: Crisps/Snacks „
The other day I was out and about traveling with my best friend/flatmate when we stopped in a small shop with limited products within it. I have to admit the prices in there were a bit daft really...being really, really high in my opinion but I so fancied munching something and spotted these chilli rice crackers at £2.29 for a bag of 150g I did feel that was expensive but fancied them anyway!
The crackers come in a red, cream and see-through plastic bag and on the front of that there is a black and white photograph of a bus with an elephant putting its trunk in an open window and we are told that they are Tyrrell 'Alternatives' Thai Chilli Rice Crackers and the weight is stated (as I have listed already). On the back of the bag other information given includes being told a little bit about the product and the ingredients used within them, allergy advice is listed as well as a nutritional information chart and contact details for Tyrells are given. This is a nice enough, high quality looking bag and I do like being able to see what they look like through the see-through section before purchasing them though they are not resealable sadly!
Small, square and rather thick and different shapes, red in colour these are deeply crunchy (cream coloured on the inside) and made from glutinous rice. Like I say they really are fresh and crunchy and I like the smallish sie of them and their general rough texture.
Flavoued on the outside of the with numerous things including soy sauce, sugar, chilli powder, fish extract, onion powder and paprika these have a really, really naturally but very sweet coating to every one of them. The paprika gives a slight smoked flavouring whilst the chilli blended with the sugar within these makes it a really sticky tasting sweet chilli sauce more than anything else.
Rich and pungent in flavours I actually rather like these and think they are wonderful quality and that is why they cost so much I now see lol! I love the textures and flavours and the hotness, although hot and tongue tinglingly spicy that is quietened down somewhat by the real sweetness these have to them. They are a good alternative to crisps and contain no GM and are trans fat free!
