Not My Fave Flavour But People Who Like Cheese Crisps Will Like Them I Reckon!

I picked these Cheddar Cheese crisps up out of the cupboard thinking they was Roast Chicken because looking quick the bags look the same. I was a bit gutted when I saw what I'd done because I'm not mad keen on cheese flavoured crisps but I still ate them because I was starving! lol

The crisps are thin like all Walkers crisps are, some of them are nearly see through they're so thin but that's wicked because it makes them dead crispy and crunchy. They make your fingers feel a bit manky because they've got quite a greasy feel to them and the flavour powder mixes with that and makes it like a bitty grease.

The taste is proper cheesey, I didn't think it would be because there isn't shedloads of flavouring on them but they've got a major strong cheese flavour. They're a bit like Quavers in the taste but they also taste a bit like the cheese and onion flavour Mccoys only with the onion removed. They taste more grown up than Quavers because the cheese flavour is stronger but it's still quite mild at the same time if you see what I mean.

The crisps have got a mega strong after taste, I shared the pack with my sister and her little friend at playgroup so only got to eat about 1/4 of the pack but the after taste stayed with me for hours...... even after I've eaten and drunk other things!

If you like cheese crisps then you'll probably like these, I'm not mad keen on that flavour anyway so wasn't expecting to fall in love with them but they're not that bad. I can't slate them for tasting too cheesey for me when they're blatently cheese flavoured crisps! lol

These come in a multi pack, I haven't seen them sold on their own. Walkers have also brought out another cheesey flavour and that is Cheese And Ham (or Cheese And Bacon I can't remember!!!). Those are lush and the meaty taste takes the cheese flavour off as well so they might be the best for people like me who want something other then cheese.

      Delicious!

I found a packet of Cheddar Cheese flavoured Walkers crisps in a local pound shop. I had not seen them before so thought I would give them a go. I do not think they are widely available in newsagents, which probably means they are not one of the most popular flavours. I am not sure why, as they are truly delicious. Cheese flavour Doritos are hugely popular and in my mind these cheese flavour Walkers have a far superior cheese quality to Doritos crisps.

They are very well coated in cheese flavour but the powder does not come off too much and so they are evenly coated in cheese flavour. the flavour is really strong so if you do not like cheese, you will not like these. (Ooooh a rhyme!)

The quality of the actual crisp is good, as are all Walkers crisps - crunchy and quite thickly cut and not at all greasy. The sunseed oil that Walkers now use is meant to be healthier as it is lower in saturated fat.

These are fast becoming one of my favourite flavours of crisp. I just love them!

The packet is similar to the packet for Walkers chicken flavour crisps so be careful not to pick up the wrong one! Grab yourself a bag full of flavour and give your taste buds a treat!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I really love cheese flavours but these were just too much, even for me.

I have always enjoyed Walkers crisps but in the past they always seemed a bit too greasy and after eating a pack my fingers would be covered and I would feel quite queasy.

Thankfully they changed the oil thatthey cook the crisps in to Sunflower oil making them a lot less greasy and now I can happily eat a pack or two without that sickly feeling.

However with all of there flavours I am really not sure about this chedder cheese one.
I really do love cheese and grabbed a pack thinking that they were bound to be good as they from Walkers but in fact the flavour was just too much. The crisps were very well coated, to the point of being very orange and I think this may be there mistake.
Even the smell from the packet was just too strong and made me feel quite nautious.
After eating about a handful or so I had really had enough and I had to leave the rest which is just something I never usually do with a pack of Walkers.
I think that this flavour should be mixed with something else like Chedder cheese and cranberries.

The nicest crisps for when you want something cheesy

I didn't know until yesterday that Walkers have brought out a new cheddar cheese variety. I like cheese and onion crisps and also I like cheesy crisps generally so thought these would be a nice change with my lunch.

These crisps are quite dark and look very powdery but they taste lovely. There is a lot of flavour powder on them and this makes them taste strongly of cheese. I was surprised that the crisps did taste of cheddar cheese because most cheese crisps have a very artificial cheese flavour. I could definatly taste cheddar, not just any cheese but it was cheddar. It is a strong taste and the flavour is like it has been baked into the crisp itself because when I have sucked the powder off there is still a strong cheese taste through the crisp.

They are crunchy and quite dry with not as much grease as I would have expected. Some of the crisps in this packet are very, very big and I don't like this because I like to be able to put a crisp in my mouth without having to break it in half to get it in.

These crisps cost about 45p for each bag and I think they are found in one of the big multi packs that Walkers do. They are the same as other crisps for calories and fat so as long as you have these instead of your usual bag then you won't be making any big changes to your diet.

          a great tasting crisp

I love walkers crisps, for me they are better than any other brand on the market. I also love cheese and before these were introduced cheese and onion used to be my favorite.

These cheese flavoured walkers crisps are realy rich and creamy in taste, the cheese flavouring is very nice, much nicer than i expected it to be, it isnt too sharp or tangy but a nice mild creamy taste to it a bit like the taste of a spreadable cheese.

The crisps are not always evenly coated with flavouring though, some of the crisps taste very weak and others have a very dark residue on them which as soon as you put it in your mouth you know it is the cheese flavouing it is covered in.

I have only ever brought these in with a multipack so i dont know how much they are on there own.

My only down side to these crisps is thst they seem very greasy and leave a greasy residue on your hands.

              nice and cheddary.

I have recently had the opportunity of tasting these new flavoured crisps and must say they are nice. I am by tradition a salt & vinegar man, but do enjoy the occasional cheese-flavoured crisp. They put quite a lot of cheddar cheese flavouring on these which is great, because the crisp is just not the same if it is plain. Walkers have again surpassed themselves in creating the new taste as most manufacturers steer clear of cheddar cheese and stick with the usual smattering of cheese. There is no doubt that this flavour will be a hit. Go on try it!

Walkers Cheddar Cheese crisps - you'll be smiling

I recently purchased a multi-pack of Walkers crisps in my local supermarket and was surprised to find that amongst the usual flavours was a packet labelled "Cheddar Cheese".
Along with the majority of the British public I had tried Cheese and Onion crisps many times over the years and so was intrigued to see how this new flavour differed.

                ~~ Packaging ~~
I only mention the packaging as it isn't quite what I expected.
The packet is the traditional blue colour with the Walkers logo but whereas previously, the flavour was in small lettering, Walkers now emblazon this across their packets in bold lettering making it more obvious as to what you are looking at.

                ~~ Weight ~~
The packet contains 34.5g of crisps, which although an odd figure to choose, is infinitely better than the 25g packets which seem to hold around 3 crisps only, and leave you staring at the bottom of the packet as if, by magic, this will make more crisps appear.

                ~~ First Impressions ~~
Opening the packet is effortless, and at first glance the packet appears to be rather full of crunchy, fresh crisps waiting to be sampled.
The aroma of cheese is very evident but not overpowering and the crisps are a tinged-yellow colour and look appetising.
The majority of the crisps are still whole with only a few broken ones toward the base of the packet.

                ~~ The Taste ~~
The taste is better than I expected - not just cheese but a recognizable cheddar cheese flavour assaults your taste-buds.
The crisps are - well, crispy really - but not "wimpy" or full of air bubbles like some other brands which means that they are more filling.
They are certainly different to the traditional cheese and onion and thankfully lack the harshness that I associate with the onion.

                ~~ Nutrition ~~
                Per packet :-
                181 kcal
                11.7g Fat (0.9g saturated)
                17.3g carbohydrate
                6.5g protein
                1.4g Fibre
                0.2g sodium

Walkers crisps are fried in high quality Sunseed Oil which allegedly adds vitamin E to the crisps during the frying process.
They are suitable for Coeliacs (people allergic to gluten and wheat).

I was impressed by the low salt and saturated fat content.

                ~~ Other ~~
By the time I had reached the bottom of this larger than usual packet, I was quite full and almost skipped the ritual whereby I tip the packet into my mouth and cover my face with scraps.
I did notice that the packet is deeper than usual which means that you have to bury your entire hand into it as the contents are devoured.
This gives a feeling of "value for money" and at the same time covers your fist in grease (albeit healthy grease !).

                ~~ Summary ~~
I thoroughly enjoyed Walkers Cheddar Cheese crisps - from the bright, bold packaging to the rich cheesy taste this flavour just exudes quality.
I don't eat many crisps these days but when I do, I'll certainly be choosing Walkers again and I would recommend that you do the same.

I bought my crisps in a multi-pack which cost around £2.79 for 24 packets (assorted flavours) but you can buy them individually for around 35p per packet.
