Oh my Goodness, I had these biscuits for the first time yesterday and they are definitely the best shortbread biscuit that I have probably ever had! Now I must admit, I am definitely a big biscuit fan and it is probably a bit of a crime that I have only just tried these, thats not to say that I have not had any of the Walkers shortbread variety because I have, but they are usually the standard shortbread fingers style, which are almost as good, but not quite as they lack chocolate.
The biscuits are not as crumbly as others and hold their shape better, which is a big plus when it comes to dunking into you cup of tea. They are not as sickly as others I have had where they have been made with too much butter and therefore are a little drier, but this does then mean that it is difficult to stop eating them as they are incredibly more-ish.
Packaging and Price
There are several different shapes and sizes, the type I had were the 175 gram box which contains a single row of circular biscuits which have four stacks of biscuits each stack with three within it allowing you to have 12 top quality biscuits.
The price obviously will vary widely on where you buy them from especially since these are a high quality premium product. I bought mine from my local supermarket Budgens and they cost approximately £2.50 for the box. As a comparison, the same product can be purchased from Tesco for a far lower price, but they were definitely worth the money.
Overall, these are a great product and I would buy these again and again if the wife would let me. I will give these biscuits a Dooyoo rating of 5 stars out of 5. These will be a difficult one to beat, probably the best biscuit around.
I am writing this review with my cup of tea next to me and a half empty box of walkers chocolate chip shortbread and its killing me having to tear away my hands from the delicious melt in the mouth goodness but I guess that's a good thing as Ive just ate half a pack of these in the space of 10 minute ooops.
I'm guessing many of you reading this probably love shortbread or are even thinking oh my god! Shortbread and chocolate chips even better hmmmm! Well yeah they are! Two of the nicest things ever combined into one to make the worlds most awesome "tea time" snack.
These pure butter and chocolate chip shortbread pieces have got to be one of my biggest weaknesses as every time I have a cup of tea I must have one of these to complement it. The shortbread itself is soft and crumbly and with the added chocolate chips it gives a much more richer and luxurious taste!
Apart from having what could be the most taste bud tingling shortbread around the very generous amount of chocolate chips just makes Walkers chocolate chip shortbread one of the best types of shortbread around. Just the thought of the chocolate chips melting over the short bread in my mouth makes me want to sprint down to the kitchen shouting "gimme my chocolate shortbreadie goodness!" I cant really describe how nice these shortbread pieces are there just one of those things in life that if taken away from me I would break down, cry and swear revenge upon the world!
Ok I my self don't care about the calories and ingredients etc. because these chocolate chips shortbread pieces are just too nice to complain :).but here is all the information on ingredients and calories etc for those more sensible than me.
Ingredients: Wheat flour, Butter, Sweet Chocolate (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, natural vanilla), Sugar, Salt.
Also obviously enough these shortbread pieces have wheat, milk, and gluten in them.
In the pack are ten pieces of chocolate chip shortbread and apparently Walkers class 2 pieces as a serving (what! Now they tell me after I have just eaten a full box! :P). So all the guide lined amount below will be based upon per serving (2 chocolate chip shortbread pieces)
Total Fat- 8g (12% daily allowance*)
Saturated Fat- 5g (25% daily allowance*)
Cholesterol- 20mg (6% daily allowance*)
Sodium- 80mg (3% daily allowance*)
Total Carbohydrate- 17g (5% daily allowance*)
*based on a 2000 calorie diet.
The average price for a 10 pack of Walkers Shortbread is about £2.25 so they are quite expensive but if you can fight the urge and take your time eating these little pieces of heaven then its so worth it! Now all that's left to do is go buy some! I mean it go now! DO IT! You Know you want to =).
Shortbread. The shortbread is as delicious as it always has been. But then someone chipped in the idea of adding bountiful amounts of real chocolate chips, and weve never looked back. Chocolate Chip Shortbread brings a certain self-indulgence to teatime which is why this variety has become one of our most popular.
