Walkers Extra Crunchy
Advantages: excellent flavour, texture and quality
Disadvantages: quite expensive full price
I love crisps and salt and vinegar are by far my favourite flavour so when my mum offered me a large sharing bag of the Walkers Salt & Malt Vinegar extra crunchy crisps I could not resist. My mum had purchased several of these bags at a reduced price from Tesco as they were coming up to their use by date.
My mum paid just £0.44 for a 150g sharing bag of these crisps in the Salt and Malt Vinegar flavour but at full price they retail at £1.75 so my mum got quite a bargain.
These extra crunchy crisps from Walkers are one of their newest products and also come in the following flavours:
- Simply Salted
- Cheddar And Sour Cream
- Sweet Chilli Chicken
- Flame Grilled Steak
The crisps come in a large foil packet which has the Walkers logo, a picture of the crisps and basic nutritional information on the front. On the back you can find the ingredients listings some information about how the crisps are made and full nutritional information.
It states that the crisps are made with British potatoes that are sliced thicker and cooked a little longer to make them crunchier than regular Walkers crisps. The crisps are also made with sunseed oil which is lower in saturates than vegetable oil. But this still does not make these crisps good for you but it helps you feel a little better when eating them. The nutritional information per a 30g serving is:
- Calories - 139
- Protein - 2.0g
- Carbohydrate - 18.0g
- Fat - 6.2g
- Saturates - 0.5g
- Sodium - 0.15g
I thoroughly enjoyed these crisps they had a great texture and fantastic strong flavour. Although the crisps are cut thicker they still seem quite light too which is one thing I love about the original Walkers crisps. They are also very crunchy and the salt and vinegar flavouring is very strong which is just how I like this flavour to be. I am not sure I would pay full price for these crisps as they are a little expensive but they are very tasty so I will be looking out for special offers.
Summary: another wonderful crisp from Walkers
