Walkers French Garlic Baguette Flavour Crisps

Advantages: GOOD PRICE AND CALORIES.SOME TASTE

Disadvantages: NOT GARLICKY!

In preparation for the World Cup, Walkers have introduced a range of crisps that symbolise different countries. For expample Spaghetti Bolonaise for Italy and Paella for Spain. There are 15 different flavours available.

*Product*

The crisps I will be reviewing are the French Garlic Baguette flavour which are rooting for France! Basically these are potato crisps made to Walkers high standard and seasoned with garlic, onion and parsley.

*Packaging*

As with all Walkers crisps, the crisps are contained in a foil bag for freshness. You are made aware that these are the French crisps as the front of the bag has the French flag colours and a big world cup trophy. The back of the bag gives the opportunity and details of how to vote for your favourite World Cup flavour as well as ingredients, nutrition and how to contact Walkers.

*The Crisps*

The actual crisps look like standard crisps. Not too thick and not too thin and they vary is size. They are a light golden colour with tiny speckles of garlic.

*Ingredients*

The crisps are made with potatoes and sunflower oil. The seasoning is made up of salt flavourings, milk lactose, dried milk whey, milk butter oils, dried garlic, dried onion, parsley and sugar.

*Nutrition*

Each 25g bag contains :

131 kcal
0.3g sugar
8.2g fat
0.6g saturated fat
0.27g salt

*Availability and Price*

Available in single packs at approx 50p or multi packs of 6 (3 flavours) for around £1.30. Sold in Poundland and supermarkets.

*My Opinion*

I have heard very mixed reviews about these new crisps and not being much of a crisp fan (I have to be in the mood for them), I am a bit behind with trying these out. I picked up the 2 multi packs on offer in Tesco for £2 and the French Baguette ones are the first ones that I decided to try.

Packaging pretty standard for Walkers though I do feel a bit conned when you open the bag and it is only half full :( First impressions on opening the bag were..wheres the garlic smell? I love garlic bread and know a quality garlic bread when I catch a whiff but all I could smell was saltiness like Ready Salted crisps.

The taste test provided me with slightly more flavour but resembled cheese and chives. That is my opinion anyway! The crisps are of good quality and have a nice bite though the flavours omitting from them are simply not what you would refer to as being garlicky! They left some sort of after taste though still nothing to be overly impressed about.

They were worth a try and I will try the other flavours though I don't feel like we got off to a good start. Calorie wise not too bad and price pretty standard.

Thanks for reading

Summary: NOT OFF TO AN IMPRESSIVE START :(
